I have to tell you.. the only "trope" here is your somewhat cliche and inaccurate perspective on this entire thing. Boys are not taught that the only "safe" emotion is anger.
This is cliche, liberal-brained nonsense. In short, you believe you are "pushing back against the evil" with your position, but your position is, as usual, foundationally cliche and simple-minded as hell. Basically it says more about
your singular worldview (and possible emotional problems) than it does about wider society.
There is a lot of pop-culture out there that rely on very simple "single personality trait archetypes". It's really that simple - and it's done because the creators of pop-culture often need a "hook" to drive character exchanges. "The angry guy". "The tech guy".
I think you should take some time to work on yourself before you tackle the lowest hanging fruit of gender psychology.
