Actually, Ben had the role for Mich
aelangelo, but he declined it when he found out that Matt was attached to the project. He was quoted as saying, "F*** that! I'm not letting this Ben & Matt sh** start up again. It was bad enough when those [fans] thought we were both straight, but now, they'll think I'm trying to win him back from Leo [DiCaprio]!" Will was more than happy to fill the role [for the closet-case].
As for the role of Karai, Mrs. Spears' representatives deny any intended involvement with the project. Mrs. Spears was originally opting for the role of April O'Neil, but had a change of heart when her Mouseketeer sister showed up at the private casting sessions. She now owes nearly $1.3K in audio equipment damages when she was turned away in favor of Ms. Latifa. Her people were just more threatening-- er,
convincing than Mrs. Spears'. Plus, she is much cheaper [as long as the craft service stays to her liking].
