R just isn't realistic (unless we're hoping for a direct-to-DVD film, which I certainly wouldn't necessarily shun).
I still like my old, "Lean, Green, and Back on the Mutha****in' Screen" tagline (WB did, too, apparently, as it was the tagline on TMNT Part 4 posters minus the Mutha****in')... but I have no illusions this would be for an alternate universe where an R-rated TMNT film could be made with no toddler hurdles.
PG-13 is the only way to go.

In all fairness, PG-13 would be nice simply so we didn't have to deal with a director/producers adding things that don't fit in the movie just for the heck of it. I can't tell you how many good movies I've seen ruined by tacked on "R" scenes. Granted, they can be used to great effect, but they're often abused.
