What the heck is wrong with me?

These're my Image-based Turtle customs. I've been trying to post them for two days, but kept getting error messages.

Anyways, Leo, Mike and Raph are Next Mutation figures, modified as Erik Larsen dictated in the Image comic (my favorite print incarnation of the Turtles, hands down). These are my take on the Turtles as they eventually settle into their new looks post-Issues #23.

Leo's missing a hand, and is wearing a skull cap reminiscent of the pre-teenage turtle masks from Mirage Vol 1, #9. I figure after losing a hand, you'd have to go back to the beginning, and relearn the ninja arts from scratch, incorporating the diability into a modified fighting style. So it was perfect that the Next Mutation Leo had this kind of skull cap, as the Image Leo needs to step back from being the leader, and admit he needs to relearn his art. Leo's using Katana blades from G.I.Joe Extreme's Black Dragon figure, since the 88 swords didnt work well with this figure, and the ones NM Leo came with suck!

Raph is all kinds of messed up. Trading in his sais for the remnants of Shredder's armor (actually NM Dragonlord's forearm guards), Raph's still sporting the scars from his encounter with the Cyborgs in Issue #1. He's wearing an eyepatch over the useless eye, and has modified his mask to include the "Jim Lee" flap that covers most of the facial damage. At one time, I'd had him wearing a modified Resident Evil Nemesis' black trenchcoat, as an homage to the all-black suit he wore in an issue or two of the Archie series. It also helped add more distinction to he who is already the darkest of the turtles in the Image world.

Don's a combination of all 3 Jim Lee Turtles, plus parts from a bunch of Spawn figures. As the Cyborg armor settles onto him, Don tries to integrate it more fully, and wears a full-face mask to cover his armored-bits, and belnd in with his brother. Ironically, Jim Lee and the New Adventures figures both had Don in a full face mask, and I've toyed with the idea of meching out one of those someday.. but the larger size of the Jim Lee turtles works better for Don, who's definitely bigger and bulkier than his brothers in the Image book.

Mikey's a straight repaint (the book didnt last long enough for Erik to figure out how to handicap him, I guess)... but I modified his nunchucks (1988 version) and included a grappling hook for those PC parents who forced him to hangup the chucks later on in the cartoon series.
