I'd change "quite possible" to "stinking of never happening" but otherwise I'd mostly agree. Such a future would kill any possibility for continuation, which simply isn't going to happen for a comic like this.
Earth will probably remain mostly human until the end of the series, I seriously doubt mutants, aliens, robots and whatever else will ever be that commonplace in this series.
