Maybe he
was misquoted? A broken clock is still right twice a day and all that. While I don't think he's a good Spider-Man writer (or that good a comic writer period), that doesn't mean that he's wrong about everything (he did do right by the characters in RYV, for example).

According to Slott, he writes within Marvel's guidelines; if Spider-Man was married, he'd do that, since he's not, he doesn't. He also claimed that he has no hostility to either iteration. Whether you believe him or not, that his story.
