Since Disney live-action remakes have been a huge hit, this was bound to happen at some point. Back in May 2016, it was reported that Disney was considering making a live-action remake of
The Little Mermaid.

Today, it was announced that the film's original composer Alan Menken would be teaming up with Lin-Manual Miranda (
Moana,
Hamilton) to write songs for the film. Miranda will also be producing the film alongside Marc Platt (
Into the Woods,
Mary Poppins Returns).
