Could the just announced 5th movie impact the cartoon?

4Kids is involved in the same way Surge Licensing used to be. Is there a possibility of future animated projects? Probably. If they were smart they'd actually time the debut of a new series to go with the release of the movie this time. (Instead of, you know, a year and a half later.)

I think it's more likely that we'd get an entirely new series to conincide with the release, tone, and style of the movie.

Or not. Batman: Brave and the Bold launched the same year as The Dark Knight. But whatever we get, I doubt it'd be a continuation of the 2003 series.

I wouldn't be too quick to say that. BTTS ended in 2009, the movie comes in 2011, which is only 2 years away.

If Lloyd Goldfine is still around, I doubt both he and Peter would want to re-tread old ground again. A movie re-boot is one thing, but I can see the 2k3 universe continuing.

I think it would be way too soon for another cartoon re-boot, I'd just rather they continue the series.

Nobody at 4Kids or Fox cares what you'd rather see them do, and why should they? The cartoon is for tots and you represent a miniscule, miniscule viewership in a demographic they make no mystery about it not being for.

I would really like to see this, perhaps with even better animation and a prime time slot on Cartoon Network.

It's possible that if 4Kids produces another cartoon they may pick up where the 2k3 series left off, but a new series wouldn't necessarily re-tread old ground, Peter Laird has already stated he would be more interested in adapting comic stories that haven't already been adapted, and the show could take the same approach as the fourth TMNT movie, with having the characters already established.

I can definitely see a new cartoon in 2 years in time for the movie or if the movie is a success a cartoon that would follow it.


I do think there is a chance it could be in continuity with the 2k3 show though maybe not the most likely.


It could also be like the 2k7 movie and a lot of comic superhero cartoons were it starts off with the characters already established.


Though I would definitely prefer a total different show from 2k3 and have a more lighthearted show like the OT. It'd be a huge success, who knows maybe Laird would allow it, I mean he seems ok with the 25th anniversary having tons of stuff from the OT.

Why not just have WB go with there ideas seeing that it was suppose to be somewhat of a in between of the OT and NT anyway if I remember correctly.

I realize that, but Peter said somewhere (either in his blog, or in the Vol. 4 letters page, I forget where), that if the cartoon were to continue he would want to adapt comics that haven't been made into episodes yet.

Likewise, if 4kids is still going to hold onto the TMNT license, why would they want to confuse kids with two different versions of TMNT made by the same company? The current series technically isn't even over yet, since a DTV comes out around August.

The current cartoon adapted most of the canon stories from Vol. 1, the original Tales, and Vol. 2, just in different ways for the cartoon universe.

Perhaps we may see some Vol. 4 plots in cartoon form.

Baxter becoming a cyborg, and the whole Darpa thing with Raph getting captured more or less became Bishop's storyline. Darpa had alien lifeforms locked away and studied in the desert, which is where I imagine the idea behind Bishop's character came from.

There's nothing else to take from Volume 2 and put in a cartoon, unless you want to see Leo fighting some giant Turtle and fish woman.

Well show is over, but thats without saying we might get something that better corresponds with the new movie.

Which in all likely hood is what will happen. Im hoping they put it slightly after the movie if they do go down that path, it in some cases helps bring in people.

Turtles will never be an adult oriented franchise, cartoon or not.

It was from 1984-1987. When the 1987 cartoon begun, TMNT became seen as more kid oriented. Today it's both, since we have so many versions.

There's plenty, fans can get what they want and kids love things that are more adult oriented even if they don't understand most of it. Batman did it with both his series and movies, it worked great. Transformers pulled it off with a movie series geared towards both and a toon for kiddies.

Anyone who watched turtles when it was first on is in their 20s now or close to it. They're all adults, it's time the franchise grows up with them.

But having a cartoon on tv does not impede Mirage from putting more material out there for older audiences, just like the how the Transformers cartoons didn't keep them from making a PG-13 movie. The same goes for Batman, Spider-man, and the X-Men, it's not about having either an adult or kid franchise, it's about Mirage actually wanting to put stuff out there for older fans as well as for kids.
