What do you owe to TMNT?
Sittin' around, not too long ago, I discovered this..
A majority of the better aspects of my life, I owe to the TMNT. Sound ridiculous? I know. But it's true. Let me show you. 1. The first things I ever drew were ninja turtles. So if it weren't for the TMNT, I would've never started drawing. 2. My love for the martial arts is born, thanks to 4 ass kickin' terrapins. 3. I meet 3 awesome cats in my high school acting class. We're brought together by a common interest: The TMNT. After many years, these cats are still my best friends today. 4. After working on an amerimanga/"mock" anime series for 8 years, it's finally on it's way to being brought to life in the form of a flash animation series. How do I get involved with flash animation? My buddy Rob. How do I meet Rob? Through working on the flash series MNT. So there you go. Not ALL of the best aspects, but a great deal of them, I owe to the TMNT. God bless Eastman and Laird. How 'bout the rest of you? What do you owe to the TMNT?

I owe them my interest in all the Japanese/martial arts/ninja/samurai/meditation stuff they had. They made me wanna draw martial arts fighting in my art, and watch kung fu movies.

-They're what pushed me further into drawing (first characters I ever drew)
-Thanks to them, I'm a martial arts addict.

thanks to them i'm a 20 year old loser living in my parent's basement downloading pictures of Paige Turco.....thanks bunches TMNT....J/k
It has kept me young....it's pure nestalgia for me. I loved it as a kid...and if its around till i die i'll still be hooked. As a cartoonist...i do cartoony drawings...and i probably first drew some really wacked out tmnt. It fueled my love for trivia....cause i was the TMNT guru in 5th grade. i could go on....but i'm through....thank u TMNT.....for the memories.....

1.) Because of them I didn't die bored at a very young age.
2.) Because of them I was able to break away from the final bit of my life that had me in a VERY bad depression. 3.) Because of them my drawing, comicing, and writing inspiration came back 4.) I met my best friend back in Okinawa because we both loved TMNT. 5.) I now have a group of other friends and I've had plenty of great RPGing experiances because of TMNT.

I owe hours of laughter to them. From actually laughing at the jokes in the old toon, to laughing at the Coming Out Of Their Shells tour's production value and the overall crappyness of it.

Something to look forward to after school and satuday mornings. I made a lot of friends through tmnt, those turtles made elementary school a helluva lot more fun.

The one real true thing from TMNT...my love for reptiles.
I love turtles. I have 4 now. One is named after Donnie, yeah, believe it or not...it's not Raph. Why? Cause Donnie's a wood turtle and are the smartest turtles out there. Logical, huh? The other 3 are red ear sliders. Oh the other thing, I love the martial arts and all that, I want to learn it all and learn saijutsu...but, i can't. takes money...the turtles take my extra dough! wait...what extra dough?

You could always try finding books and video on the tonfa. eBay is full of used police manuals on the nightstick (tonfa) and baton.
Unfortunately, every Western created media that depicts a sai (TMNT, Daredevil) shows it being used wrongly. It's ancestor is the Tokugawa era Doshin Police jitte which has only one side prong instead of two. It's actually used like a nightstick or baton and not a stabbing or offensive weapon. It's defensive. There is this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...l/-/0897500105 Even if you don't learn it, it's an interesting library addition, eh? You can also look into the rapid rotation police baton, which is based on the sai. I don't think you'll actually be able to own one without being a Licensed Law Enforcement Officer, but it's interesting to read up on it. Here's a pdf about it: http://www.rrbsystems.com/Products/G...0the%20RRB.pdf

I used to draw all the time when I was little, so they didn't really get me into drawing, but they have helped me perfect a style, so to speak. Its funny how my drawings of them were crap at the time they were first majorly popular, and now almost 15 years on, I can finally draw something that resembles a ninja turtle, lol.

I could talk about the speed of unladen European swallows, but ninja are more on topic. Ok, so you already have the Demura book? There is another which is called "Secret Weapons of Jujutsu" but it's a misnomer. It really should be called "History of the Japanese Jitte." Also an interesting book.

Hmm I guess I owe them being close to my brothers, we used to play ninja Turtles together. TMNT also gives me an excuse to tell really long stories in school. I wouldn't have a very good imagination if its wasnt for the action figures. and TMNT being on really offers a time to gather the family and sit arund the tube!

I owe TMNT nothing, if anything they owe me. I musta spent more than $2000 on tmnt crap, but I still love them.
I noticed the trend of TMNT got me into drawing. That's great, drawings a lot of fun, they got me into drawing, but now I don't limit myself. I draw all sorts of crazy stuff when i'm bored (which is usually during math class) Later players |

I never would have stormed a girl's graduation party dressed as a ninja, knocking people into her pool.
I never would have been such a fanatic about pizza. They were the first things I drew, as well. I laughed at the old toon. I bought oodles of toys that I broke moments after they had been removed from the package. and most of all, my mental growth was stunted at the age of 5. Explains a lot, don't it?
