That's what happens when you hire a lackluster director.

The reality of it is a lot of times, you get the film assembled (the assembly cut never plays well, for the record) and see spots where you need improvement or clarification or see something you need to emphasize more, or even remove a once-integral scene that is completely unnecessary or redundant and need to re-connect the dots. Sometimes, you will find something that worked better on page but didn't work so well on film.

That's what the assembly cut is for. It's like the drafting process all over again. It's like when you're writing or sculpting, and you put it together, and go over it, make revisions, or refine the detail more.

Not a good sign if this is true although the rewrite could lead to a better movie.
Not what I'd like to hear (if true), but better them fix a weak link now than simply push on for the sake of saving some cash.

from the sounds of it, they plan to make 3 tmnt films, so i'm sure they want to put their best foot forward and make a quality movie. if this is true, i don't see anything wrong with it. i'm sure it happens more often than we know in the movie industry.

This guy post one more stange tweet:

"Now, we could have gotten anyone to beef up the role of April O'Neil: Cody, Fisher, but we chose you," studio guy, presumably.

I'm more convinced than ever they didn't have anything close to a finished script, and this movie is just going to be one giant point-and-shoot-and-make-it-work-later patchwork job.

This film really is going to be absolute sh!te and inferior to the other four, isn't it?

Not a prediction of Nostradamus proportions, granted, but the news just gets worse and worse. Being an optimistic sort of guy I was holding out hope, but that's eroding more as time goes on.

It's such a shame. I really wanted this to be brilliant.

Probably. My vote is for them to cut their losses and shutter the entire production and everything already filmed. Later on they can give all the footage to the Turtle Doc guys and they can do a vignette about "How to Do a Really Sh*tty Turtle Movie" and show some of it there, complete with new interviews with William Fichtner looking clueless and talking about "it was wacky, I say. Wacky!"

That's not really saying much but yes, it looks like it's going to be even worse than all the other Turtle films. Significantly worse, but with prettier special effects and possibly better looking Turtles.

Do you include the first movie in the "bad movies" list, as well. Sure it was not a masterrpiece but it was definitely a decent movie.

It's as close as TMNT has ever gotten in mainstream. It's just too bad it was, in fact, only "decent." Even sadder that every movie since then has gotten further and further away from the few glimmers of things in the first film that were solid, until finally now we've arrived at some kind full-on, bastardized Fred Wolf movie.

Why do you think it will be Fred Wolf like? I more getting a vibe of a over the top, action-for-the-sake-of-action kind of movie with big, buff, Hulk-looking Turtles

Bring it on.

Yeah I still really enjoy the original film. It was as serious a take as was possible at the time, given that the audience was mainly kids. I still love it though.

SotO, 3 and TMNT aren't great movies by any stretch of the imagination but I still watch them as they're entertaining enough.

Now I am wondering if this guy is just high off his rocker, bc that doesn't even make sense

April in yellow, being a news reporter, Vernon, Irma, Burne (sorta), the whole channel 6 thing on a whole, really. Plus there's a turtle van, we've got at least one turtle going around the streets in a hat and trench coat, original leaked script featured Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady, so obviously someone is looking towards that universe for influence. There's probably more that I'm forgetting.

yeah, of course. When I think about Frank Wolf it's the lighthearted tone and the comic relief that comes to mind. And I'm not so sure about that part. But maybe I'm wrong

I love that they're taking inspiration from OT/Fred Wolf.

As a kid I always wanted to see awesome, live action Bebop and Rocksteady costumes just like the turtles for the movies. It would be awesome to see them in this movie.
