If it's a design they were likely going with had they used it for the first film, then why not, makes as much sense to go with that, and gotten work on the models started right away, than spend more time going back to the drawing board. If they scrap it entirely because we've seen it...lame.

I do believe I see a faint hint of a dusty dark purple in the mohawk however, esp when you compare to the color of the ponytail end.

(Not that that would have been guaranteed to be that way in the actual model.)
