It’s the same problem as when they casted Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. A black guy who came of age during the height of the Vietnam War and the civil rights era is not going to be the same person or have the same experience and worldview as a white guy who fought in World War 2 during the FDR administration.

That one I give a pass, because it was based specifically on an alternate universe version of Nick Fury from the comics, who in turn had been based on Samuel L Jackson in the first place. There was precedence, unlike 99% of the time where it's just a straight up diversity hire and you're a bigot if you don't like it.
