I‘m sure the US government has no idea where they are going with this but the reaction from secular Iranians is unanimously positive.

The same here in Seattle. I was driving up north yesterday and there was like caravans of cars with flags and people hooting out of the side of their cars on the bridges in downtown, super happy.
