Well it's just the fact that he sold his half, not that he moved onto other things
If I recall correctly, he sold most of his share (not all) so that he would no longer be needed to make decisions. That way Peter would be free to relaunch TMNT without having to consult Kevin, who was busy with other projects and couldn't put that focus on TMNT. At least, that's one story.
