Anyone else had this problem with Battle Gear Mike?

Got all the 4 Fighting gear TMNT and decided to open Mike as I liked his head sculpt better than the original and wanted to check out the added articulation.

After a few minutes of fiddling with him decided to apply his armour. Got out the shin pad that you had to wrap around his leg and I bent it as you were meant to and it snapped. Is it just me or did Playmates screw up by using hard plastic for this accessory instead of a more rubbery plastic?

I'm considering complaining and requesting for a replacement accessory but Iv'e got a feeling that would snap too the instant I tried it again. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
