Will Fast Forward Be the End of the TMNT

I think many people are underestimating the nostalgia and pop culture factor. Many people who are now young adults grew up with Ninja Turtles (as TMTWBR said), and I think they will go see this movie as something fun to do on a Friday or Saturday night. I have yet to meet someone at college who hates TMNT. Whenever people see me with my TMNT shirts, I get compliments and people start reminicing about how they used to watch TMNT, and who their favorite turtle was. I think this movie has potential to start a third wave of TMNT popularity, if the new toon counts as the second.

You know there will loads of people nudging their friends and saying, "I heard there's a new Ninja Turtles movie. Wanna see it?" And you don't get this picture from the big-budget advertising and celebrity endorsements many movies have, but simple word of mouth is an immense factor in box office longevity. So, in the long run, it depends on how many people you (yes YOU) tell the movie is coming out.

Speaking of college, the reaction at thte University of Maryland will be interesting. They play a bit of the TMNT theme during home games, and then everyone yells "turtle power!" And people think we won that basketball championship because we had good players?

Plus "retro" still seems to be hot for certain things from the past. Like TMNT. People who haven't been paying close attention --and that's most people-- will see the movie as a "return". Whether that return is welcome will depend on whether they liked TMNT before... and even if not, it will be a novelty. I mean, TMNT is fun. There really aren't that many movies about giant turtles who can kick butt... at least not readily available at a theatre near you.
