I have to say I agree with you about April's powers. Don't get me wrong, I like her because I really think she is a strong and smart character who absolutely changed since the first season. In a good way, obviously. But having her powers bringing back Master Splinter's memory was just a too simple and quick solution for an important thing like this. I really expected something more complicated. Ok, the writers have only 22 minutes for each episode, but still. In my opinion, April's powers make her character a little bit magical, a little bit too extravagant which I don't like. I prefer her human traits, her stubbornness, her never ending attempt not to give up. I think those thinks make her a perfect partner and a "fifth turtle" not her magical powers.

Sorry for my English or grammar, it's not my mother tongue. :')

This was even better than the vision quest episode. Enjoyed this episode from start to finish and loved the soundtrack too. Splinter in his underwear weirded me out a bit though

I don't get it. I am sure what April did was kind of a ass pull but when having another character doing something similar is just as bad.

But I guess one hand when comes down to it, it her powers got rid a conflict that would been interesting for them beat but if the conflict takes too long to solve then it could drag the plot down and make everything come to a screeching halt which is the last thing that this arc needs.

How? She's done it before. That aside, she said back in season 1 that she'd always had that sixth sense thing going on, being hypersensitive to stuff or whatever. Training with Splinter helped that and it was established that despite their not being in the city that she was still training, which probably includes her mind.

This is the second time where April has focused her mind (which I figured she learned from Splinter) in a non-Kraang situation. I personally don't get what the problem is, given that her powers go into deux es machina mode where she has no control over them whenever in a situation where she's distressed and connected either directly or indirectly to something Kraang related. It's not like it was pulled out of nowhere. At least the show is being consistent with it.

I have to agree. There are a lot of complaints that the show does tend to forget its own plot arcs and development, but this is one of the real areas of consistent development throughout the entire run - its not like its come out of nowhere. And although I dislike deus ex machina endings as much as anyone, there are limits in a early season episodes to what can be squeezed into the time frame. I always thought that things like Buried secrets, people were kind of missing the point; It wasn't that April saved the day at the end of the ep, it was that the Turtles roundly lost against an enemy they had no chance against. April was their ONLY way out of it.

Still, we'll have to wait and see where they go with it I guess - now its here, it does open a lot of potential avenues for the show to explore (like mind linking, healing, etc)

OH HELL NO! That ginger's powers should only be kept only in the mental and psychological category. No physical healing , no suddenly knowing how make fire with her mind. No suddenly using her power to conveniently wipe the conflict and realism clean from the episode. I can accept her restoring Splinter because it was mental power related and it happen before but if it gets out of hand to a point where she can suddenly materialize things in middle of a freaking desert then that is when I have problem with her.

Just no.

Don't panic dude, I meant healing as in psychologically, not literally healing body injuries! I agree, that would be taking it too far

The Universal Healing Church of Kraangpril - let her heal you TODAY!

Kinda wish she'd just lose the mind powers... Or at least have it weakened by 3/4.

I no longer see this listed now to repeat after tomorrow's new one. >.> Not that I can't watch it on demand, and already have, but it's a nice idea for prior ones to repeat after (or before...) the newest. (A sponge repeat is now listed after it. *throws things*)

Yeah, Spongebob reruns instead of Turtles reruns tends to make me want to throw things too. Let's see. All I can spare are a couple of catnip mice and an empty cornflakes box.

Ditto from me. I can't even see commercials for the new Sponge Bob movie without breaking into tears and crying "Why god? Why?"

I know it just they can **** up it so easily with April that it's not even funny. They have already introduce that she can do telekinesis. Granted it was with Kraang tech but I really don't want to see this.

or this

I really don't want April this specific scene of her ascending to a higher plane of existence and then descend down like nothing had happen. It just bugs me man.

April needs a power weakness or a way for non psychic people to defend themselves. Make things difficult for April, don't things easier but without creating enemies that blow up freaking planets or leveled entire cities. I am looking at you Naruto and Dragonball Z!

And you know what happens to the rest of cast that don't have special snowflake power "X"? They become background prop! You want the turtles became the Yamchas of the series? Just standing doing nothing but freaking commentary.

Loved the episode. I liked seeing Splinter going through hardships and how our heros helped him. And I liked seeing him lay the smack down on the Shredder Clones.

Nice episode, but it felt a bit too rushed. The whole reintroduction of Shredder and return of the Splinter should have taken at least two episodes.

Animation and camera work are nice as always. Splinter, as always was awesome. And Shredder Clones made their appearance. Nice.

I watched this episode again prior to the new one this morning in order to give it a better pace. While this episode was quite fast-paced, the fact that the following episode establishes more points (the Pizza lair being improved, dangerous for April/Casey, the continuing evolution of Shredder/his mutants), it was clearly a much-awaited return that fans have wanted. The new intro is a nice bonus and nicely keeps some classic footage while incorporating some new scenes. Shredder clones were inevitable, but they're cleverly presented.

Overall: 9/10

One of the first episodes this season I actually gave a crap about.

Though it did feel a bit rushed, especially toward the end, I still felt like it did a good job. It had suspense and had me pushing for them to save Splinter. I hated seeing him get captured and just in that state. As for April and her powers: it just makes me wonder why people want Venus when April practically is Venus for this show.

Also, love the painting shout out on the van for Venus by Raph. Nice touch!

The Foot Clan plot is about the only thing keeping me watching to be honest, so it's always nice to see it in full swing.

Finally got around to watching this episode, mainly because Amazon has started taking a while to add a new episode once it airs, plus nervousness at what would be shown.

All in all very good, and my most favorite part of the episode?

"Splinter, you are not a rat, you are Hamato Yoshi!"

And the the way he stood upright tall and proud like a human being again once April reached through to him, and not running around on all fours like some crazed animal.

It sounds odd, but I was really wanting to see something like that. I think might have even made the whole show for me too, it was that powerful. We have April telling Yoshi he wasn't an animal, juxtaposed with Shredder being quite gleeful at reducing him down to being just that, even having a giant rat cage set up and even having said "I always knew Yoshi was little more then a rat." It's like Shredder wants Yoshi to act like a mutant, because for him to act that way means he's become degraded and a thing and not a man anymore.

It was like the show finally 'cut to the chase' and reminded us that these mutants were still human beings, and not anthropomorphized animals like it was almost playing up earlier. Even Tigerclaw showed it, being afraid that Shredder looked like he was waiting humanity was mutated, which if you think he over-identified with tigers, he would have used the othering noun 'humans instead.

Very good episode, and I would even give it a 9/10.
