So has anyone found the Battle Shell figures outside of Toys R Us yet? I found Mikey and Don today at my local TRU and just need Leo and Raph now.

I love that they lengthened Donnie's bo staff even if just a little bit, it certainly helps.

You can find them at Target. I've seen them there for over two weeks, always in stock. Don't pay that price... you can get them for like $20 or less at Target.

If scalpers are going to scalp, at least scalp something that's not easy as hell to find everywhere. Charging double price for common items like this is insulting.

Found my set at TRU, only seen Spider bytez wave at Target... so far.

i found Spider Bytez on ebay 20.00 which is about what i would pay to drive up to my TRU and try my luck if he is there. we just got Cockroach Terminator, Shredder unmasked, and M.O.U.S.E.R.S. here. also picked up a set of the retro figures. still think they look cool even though this is like the 5th re-release. i think it would be cool to re-release limited edition soft head versions never seen them before

It's based on the retro figures (4" figure, not 6") but wasn't originally released with the OT. The Mechs have been referenced throughout several of these threads. They aren't overly popular, but they are over-priced. Not Playmates best choice for a "retro" vehicle. They should have gone with a more recognizable vehicle with a lower price point, IMO. I'd have loved to see them bring back the Turtle Blimp, Mutant Module, or Footcruiser. Or if cheaper was the idea...the Footski, Cheapskate, or Pizza Launcher.

Yeah there were so many awesome, truly vintage vehicle choices it amazes me that they would choose a pseudo-vintage vehicle without proven selling power. That's what I call a wheelie chair decision. Finally got around to opening one of my Battle Shells. Raph.
The packaging is the best yet, so I kept them encased till now!! I will open the others, maybe ater today.
Till then, here is Raph, and a comp shot with his 80s couterpart.

They didn't do too good of a job with the shell crack. What's the point of putting it there if it won't even be painted a different color?

Is it flexible though? Almost looks like it's bending to allow the legs to move forward.

i think he meant on the front (plastroon) like a battle scar its not painted

No, it's not painted. I was thinking the reference was the crack created by the split in the shell to allow it to open! Doh!!
Th molding of the crack is quite shallow, but it's there.

How tightly do the Battle Shell turtles' shells close? As good as the originals? Better? Worse?

Once closed, they can't be opened!
That's what it feels like.

They close very well. The shells are quite soft, so they tend to bend first, before opening.
Comparing them, the original mechanism seems better.
