~Whoa-- took me a long time to get through everyone's comments here! Ok, I just wanted to drop by to add my HOLY- MOTHER- OF- GAWD- THAT WAS AWESOME!!
<ahem>
I can't add anything to what's been said here--Thank you all for having good memories and/or the wit to have taped this episode today so you could quote all those great bits of dialogue.

Machias, I'm so glad you got to see it afterall-- I would surely like to watch it over and over now and catch all the stuff that flew by so fast.

And Keno, my friend....

My mom came into the room halfway thru the show and said "Isnt this abit violent?" NONONO SCREW OFF!!!!! lol. i guess parents never change so i really HOPE there isnt some parental control backlash to the show!

How do I explain this....well, all I can say is let 'em bring it on and I'll beat 'em down just like I did 15 years ago when my kids first fell in love with the TMNT and infected me with this strange malady.

A friend of mine came over at my house at 10 AM with powdered donuts and Yoo-Hoos. We sat through Ultimate Muscle with the sound pretty low (I only rcognized one guy from those muscle men toys from my younger days... the junior character of this character (mohawked pink dude) had a mouth that looked like a... ... uhm... well... a butthole), we watched that absoultely ridiculous show go by, talking and worrying about the TMNT, hoping that it would be good (neither of us like Transformers Armada or the new Masters of the Universe). I preached a bit about Mirage and how it was supposed to be a closer tone than the original cartoon and such, but still worried. Then the show started. Liked the issue 1 intro quite a bit. Didn't like the theme. When they went above the streets and Raphael was actually hiding and moving with stealth, I said "This show's good," and my friend agreed, and I was happy. I was excited. This new show rocked.

I taped it, so I took the tape to his house, which we went to after, and we showed his brother and another fried, about our age (early 20s), and he liked it too. Then we watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the movie, the first two episodes of the 80s cartoon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Watching the different cartoons so close together is very weird, as someone mentioned on here. The 80s version is so much more... silly, I'll say. Not in a bad way, not in a good way. I don't want to bash it. I also decided that as far as audio/video versions of the Turtles go (80s cartoon, new cartoon, next mutation, and the movie trilogy), I'd say that the new cartoon is giving the original movie a run for its money as my favorite, especially if it continues like this. Its definitely better than all the second and third movie and the 80s cartoon and Next Mutation.

All in all I've watched it 5 times today. I'm a bit worried about my tape, I was originally planning on making a tape that I would watch and wear out, and another tape (recorded at 8:30 the following week) that I would preserve until DVD burners are more accessible (or until an official dvd of the show actually comes out), but I'm going to make one of the tapes for my friend. I guess I'll have to rig my video camera to record, and either make a 2nd generation copy to be the watch watch watch copy, or record two tapes of 8:30 at the same time.

A few years ago, I was reading the Mirage comics, and wishing that some day somebody would make a new turtles cartoon that wasn't as... silly. I thought that day would never come. It has come, and my dream version of a turtles cartoon is on the air.

I should stop typing. I loved the show.

Yesthe old cartoon was goofy. Well the first season and seasons 8-10 were darker, but most of the show was silly. Now this new show, while it is suitable for kids, it is not written for them. I bet almost every near 20 turtle fan here loves the show. While it has humours in it, it is much more serious than the old carton. Pretty close to the feeling of original mirage TMNT.

Even the fans who are nowhere near 20 are enjoying it.

I thought it was pretty good. Actually I thought they'd screw it up! I prefer the original Cartoon, but this one has a good start so far.

I am very unhappy over the fact that we don't get FOXBOX or UPN or whatever the heck station the new cartoon is on.

I guess I will just have to go with what people say here on the boards. It looks like everyone enjoyed it, so it must have been a successful debut.

I'm with Raphael on the notion of using Kazaa. I'm a windows Xp user, and IRC crashes my computer every time I begin a download.

If someone wouldn't mind downloading a good quality version of the first on ep. from IRC and sharing it on AIM or Kazaa, I'd be very much appreciative...I could trade you for old eps....

ANYONE?

Well, since it would be unfair to compare, I think the new cartoon still has a ways to go til at least it makes a big impact on society like the old one did...We shall see what happens on upcoming episodes....

Karpo said that the first 2 or 3 seasons of the old tmnt were the only ones he liked...who knows, that may be true for him with the new show...

Oh well, a little less than 6 days til episode 2 begins...

All cartoons have animation goofs all over the place, even a premier cartoon like The Simpsons.

But the old TMNT probably takes the cake for animation mistakes. Especially in the Mousers episode (from the old cartoon!) where they recycle a clip of Michelangelo driving the van and Donatello moving his mouth. Except in the first instance Donatello is really talking, while in the second Raphael is supposed to be talking. So it's an even more egregious (and intentional!) flaw.

Well, as we all know they drastically increased the silliness factor and decreased the violence and overall dark tone after the first season of the old cartoon. It'd be sad if it happened with the new cartoon.

Actually I suspect that if the producers and network execs wanted to do the same to the new show, Peter Laird would just pull the plug. I don't think he'd want it to happen again.

Yes. After the first season the old show went totally goofy. But Im sure that won't be the case with the new show.

Call me racist, but I've always thought that interspecies relationships are a bad idea.

And hooking up with all the turtles *and* Splinter...that's practically incestuous.
