I agree that the two cartoons should not be compared to one another. They are entirely different from one another. They are both good cartoons but they are different. The humor and action are on different levels.

This is a great thread people. Keep it up.
There will be one like this for every new episode.

I agree with making the next poll a scale of 1 to 10.
The TMNTG1 and TMNTG2 are made in different times with different animation and were not meant to be compared. I will always cherish watching TMNTG1 as a child, but I'm so looking forward to the next 25 episodes of TMNTG2.

Interesting observation, darthsmozers about the fly. It could....it also had a funny scene to it with Mikey.

Yeah, after watching the cartoon a second time, I could see how the fly may have been a hint to Baxter's old cartoon past. Another thing that came up was the scene where Mikey tries to say "Cowabunga," but Raph shoves him into the hole. Totally reminds me of the CGI trailer where Raph shuts Mikey up before he can say it.

~I don't know about the fly business (other than it being such a great Distracted Mikey Moment) but I think there may have been several things recalling previous TMNT stuff from several universes. Like the line in the theme song "I love being a turtle", from the movie, the incomplete "cowabunga", and some line I thought I heard Raph say that I recognized but I can't for the life of me remember what it was now.
And of course, throwing Kevin and Peter in there as cops was certainly an "in joke" for TMNT old timers.
You know what's funny is that when the Purple Dragons went to move their truck, I was looking for Kevin to be driving it since he has a history of cameo driving roles....

Ill chalk the fly business up as a throwback to fly baxter, just because it makes me seem observant

I hope small cameos and throwbacks appear once in awhile...

Also, remember when Don said "that was almost too easy?"?

Reminds me of TMNT 2 when they say that when saving raph...JUST LIKE THEY DID HERE.

While I wasnt blown away by the first episode by any stretch of the imagination, it is very nice to have a new series. Just from the preview and some spoilers I have hope for future episodes. Im also glad they went back to the slightly more darker/action roots. Its also good to see the new TMNT show bringing in new fans, as well as reviving old ones.
It is definately the best darn show on Fox Box...but then again Fox Box doesnt have any other watchable shows.

So yeah...Im a bit saddened not much thought was put into the crappy theme song or the backgrounds, but not much we can do now. The new logo, inidvidual TMNT designs, and overall feel of the gang is great.

And all I have to say is...the new April!!! OMG....muchos hot! *swoons* ^_^

Actually, I think the movie lines were "That was easy." and "A little too easy."

Huh...upon repeated viewings, I dunno if I like the writing for this ep much. Alot of awkward flow in the lines of dialogue, and some parts were just hanging there or unecessary. I hope the script writing improves.

Wuffle,
repeated viewings lead to overanalyzation....dont watch it TOO much

And thanks for the clarification on the lines...but u have to admit, they are similar in the events around them...

Beaker,

The theme song is growing on me, and I'm singing it in my head constantly LOL.

No offense Beakmiester, but how can a theme song ruin an experience. Me, I enjoyed it, but even if it was the theme song to Barney attached to this cartoon, I would have still enoyed it. The theme song is over when the show starts. You don't have to listen to it again. It's like saying the cartoon isn't as enjoyable because the new font on the TMNT logo stinks. As for the backgrounds, that is a matter of opinion, but I like the style, very noir-like, and fitting to new art direction of the turtles.

Eveyone has right to state their own opinnion, personally I can't see what's his problem with the theme or the backrounds.

OH!OH! OH! Brain cells flicker for a minute!

~I just remembered what that line was.
Upon defeating the Purple Dragons Raphael says, "I hope there's more of them," very close to his apple- munching, "Gosh, I do hope there's more of them," from TMNT1.
Yay me! Yay Ginkgo Biloba!

I like the observation about the fly, didn't occur to me then, but it makes sense. At the time I thought that Splinter was going to swat it himself in one hit after Michaelangelo takes so long.

Actually, when I say it makes sense, I mean that it more than makes sense, and I accept it as being an out right intentional homage until its denied from someone in the know.
