Neither of those videos are working.

I apologize for my tone. I'm just tired of seeing the same argument -- over different things, anything really -- and the same generalizations with the same solution -- segregating yourself from the other side -- everywhere I go.(Try looking at the Star Wars thread at the Blu Ray forum. You'll lose your will to live.) What I'm really trying to convey is that the act itself is childish, not necessary the people. I think un-childish people can act childish, yes.

Personally, I'm on the middle with this film. Some parts look fun, other parts look kinda bad, and these trailers aren't doing much to sell me on Megan Fox's supposed improvements as an actress. Really, what rubs me the wrong way is that in a time when they can get so many comic book movies so right, treat the material with respect while making them definitive, yet still accessible to a contemporary audience, and we're getting a TMNT film that doesn't quite feel that way. That could looked upon as hate, but really I'm just cautious.

I probably shouldn't respond. I know that. And Machias Banshee - I will gladly delete this if you want me to, as I don't want to add to your headaches. But there's just one thing here that I really want to reply to:

Its like a bully picking a fight with someone at school. Whos to blame? Except, no, it's not like that at all. People simply posting negative opinions about this movie aren't "picking on" anyone on this forum. They're stating opinions about a movie, which for whatever reason certain other posters keep taking as personal attacks, and then they reply with increasingly hostile responses and even actual personal attacks, and then we're down the rabbit hole.

If I don't like something you happen to like, and I were state as much in an open forum, I would not be "bullying" you. I have a right to my opinion and a right to express it, and that opinion has nothing to do with you personally. But if I were to state an opinion you don't like, then you attacked/harassed me personally because of that, then you WOULD BE bullying me.

There's a big difference between downplaying, picking apart, and complaining about a frivolous thing like a movie, and downplaying, picking apart, and complaining about a person.

I keep seeing a repeated "if you don't like the movie/agree with me, then go away!" mantra here from specific posters on the positive side, and IMO, that's going more to set people off and recharge all the hostility and bickering than anything else.

Everyone here can put other posters on their ignore list. If you're really so bothered by someone's posts that you can't resist starting an argument, there's a good chance you should be using it more.

Are you not comprehending your own words? your spouting off at the mouth about people who are flat out "hateful" and then quoting a guy who says he can have negative opinion but display it in a civilized way.

No one is saying that people who are not feeling the movie can't have an opinion. Their points just needs to have substance and they need to act civilized. If they cant act orderly then they need to be removed no matter which side they're on.

I get it, this will never end because you cant make everyone happy. I get that. Its always gonna be something. I guess just being a glass is half full guy, about most things, makes it really frustrating to try and be apart of a community of mostly excited fans, for this movie, and then watch people fly in under the banner of "personal opinion" to say hey they look like shreks, lets make pictures of mikey holding a weed sack or with shrek ears, because Michael Bay sucks. Or hey, even though other iterations of shredder have rediculous designs lets bash the hell out of this one. It makes being excited for this movie hard, when so many peoples opinions have to be so negative. But hey, as long as people get to say, "its my opinion" then everything is cool.

And I would never agree with someone personally insulting another member.

Maybe they're not going to release a high def version of he 59 second trailer and instead go straight to the 2:24 version.

And y'know what? I totally get that too, and I've been there myself plenty of times. But you're never really gonna avoid stuff like this. There are always going to be people who don't "get" what you get, or fiercely disagree with what you're saying, and even though I totally understand that instinct to try to win them over and sway their opinion... a lot of the time, hell, most of the time, it's pointless. IMO, it's almost always better to just accept it for what it is, but them on mute and go about your business.

And for the record, as I've said before - I may not like anything I've seen from this movie, but I understand that some people do, and I hope they/you enjoy it when it's out. We're all fans of the same "thing", but we all have different tastes, and that's okay. And there is plenty of good TMNT stuff coming out these days, and not everything has to be for everyone. Not saying I won't be critiquing or even making fun of stuff from this movie in the future, but it has nothing to do with you or anyone else personally - just different strokes for different folks.

People would save themselves some sanity to brush this kind of stuff off a bit.

Ok, maybe some are offended by the Shrek thing for TMNT's sake. (Well, I assume it's for TMNT's sake.) Personally I have to say I agree that there is an awkward Shrek likeness, but have been a bit offended by the actual models where I feel the 'real' TMNT is concerned. (These guys have yet to feel like the 'real' ones to me, and probably won't...) But I've had to set aside a slight annoyance at those gushing over how "good" they personally believe the models look, and really their opinion doesn't affect me.... the only ones affected are the film makers who either get my money, or more likely will not.

*shrug* Different boat, same dirty old river.

You, and several others who are clearly against the movie for whatever reasons continue to come to the movie forum and bash the movie and disguise it as "opinions." You do it in a way to try to get under people skin and cause disruption which causes bickering and threads to get shutdown.

I said it before I'm cool with a difference of opinion but it's so many that do it in a way where discussion can actually take place. Poster like that wrestler dude leo(something), glacatus, jester, boston ninja turtle guy.

You and a couple others add nothing to the debate, and just seem to stir **** up. Instead of the MODs banning those that are truly negative and disruptive they close down threads and it prevents the rest of us from doing what we come to this site for which is to share information and have discussions.
yep.

of course, the cursing gets deleted, while those said d!cks still get to troll around here and passively aggressively (or just outright aggressively) talk sh!t.

Truth is, the "positive" people do the same thing they're accusing the "negative" people of doing. How many freakin' time will some whiner whine about the whiners? Jeesh. And it doesn't matter if the opinion is solid or even constructive, because then people still complain, because some people have no spine and can't see past their own opinion.

So, if they start banning people "for being negative," then they might as well close the board down, because it'd be a helluva lot easier than banning everyone. This is the internet people. What do you expect? Rainbows and hummingbirds?
ive said this a bunch recently but for me ITS NOT THE OPINION.

those are like assholes. everyone has one. thats fine.

its the way some members on here pose those opinions that makes it not fun or pleasant to hang around here.

some people on here are just so childish and its obvious that all they want is to be trolls, to put it quite simply.

and sure, its easy to say that its MY choice to come here and if i do so i have to "deal with" the "negativity" , but just because there are a number of pricks here, i shouldnt come to the technodrome, the largest tmnt forum on the net to talk about this fairly huge event for the fandom and franchise, just so that i dont have to wade through thigh high piles of **** talk???

is that what a fan has to go through?

is that what this place is?

way to represent, kids.

why NOT ban people for outright rudeness or flaming or flamebaiting?

or at least, you know actually MODERATE.

and this: If you can't handle negativity, then you can't handle real life.

in real life none of the jerks in question would act the way they do, because they'd get thrown out of the room, or kicked outta the conversation for acting and saying things the way they do.

i dont expect hummingbirds and rainbows, but i'd expect a little decency and maturity. general cordiality and thats what i would hope mods and admins would WANT encourage as well.

To argue that the other side isn't being civil is childish, as well, because you're not being civil either.

see, everyone acts like its about the difference of opinions, but its actually, for me and few others on here, anyway, about the attitude of posters on here.

way to foster a fandom, folks.

And alot of people dont just post their opposite views, no matter how negative. People throw in little jabs everywhere they can knowing its gonna cause backlash.

I think there outta be a forum just for all the people who think this movie sucks or that want it to fail so 10 years from now we can have another, and they can all congregate there and wallow in their hatred of this movie, but as it has been already said that would never work. Why? Because the people who are negative can't help but find people who are positive and $!@& with them.
Surely fans that are "negative" about this movie have equally valid reasons to comment on posts about the movie. It's taking a franchise we love and making it into something that looks like we'll hate.

This is a discussion board dedicated to TMNT, surely debate is part of that. If people can't handle that others may disagree and actively comment and even debate with them on issues to do with this movie.

I'd argue a lot of the nastyness comes from the "positive" crowd who seem very quickly turn on the vitriol when met with arguments they can't counter and it descends into insults. That being said I wouldn't liken or call any of it "bullying". I think that's disrespectful to any young person who has gone through that in some way. No one is punching anyone in the face, we can all turn off our computers and walk away however if you choose to stay and defend your point of view of the movie then it's your choice. Don't moan about it.

You'll would think someone from a theater would've leaked the file, by now. The only time I remember really waiting for trailers was for the Star Trek reboot. I sat through a James Bond movie on opening night just so I could see the trailer that debuted with it. But then they posted it online the following day and I felt foolish for doing it. This time, it might've been a good idea.

I've never seen something like the TMNT that promotes family and unity cause its fan base to crumble with all the infighting going on. Its cool your opinion differs from mine I appreciate and respect your views but can't we all just get along?

How bout we give them some constructive criticism instead of throwing around descriptions like "They look like Shrek" "They look like Hulks". Give me a real good reason why they look like ****. It reminds me of the first review of the teaser trailer that came out that described the turtles as being little baby dicks I just can't take a review like that seriously. Where did that lady get her journalism degree from Mrs Young's 3rd grade class?

With trailer #3 I feel like my excitement shoot up in the positive but with all the negative comments and the marketing just completely sucking it goes back into the neutral.

I wonder if there was any negativity like this before the 1990 movie came out. Or was pretty much everybody already on board with those designs?

I imagine if you were old enough to remember the 80s you probably liked those designs. People were a lot calmer. Plus there wasn't much to compare the film to and while they were designed slightly different than the cartoon you could pretty much see that they nailed it.

Enter the world of 2014. The era after reality tv. People are throwing imagination to the wind for realism and really putting a limit to what a man sized turtle would be able to do. Look at the few trailers and tv spots for 2014 TMNT and compare it to the one trailer to the TMNT 1990 movie. They got **** done. You knew what movie you were going to see.

I personally hate Shrek and I hate Mike Myers for creating that character so **** him!

Have, several times. And certain individuals just tries to shoot down anything about discussing the turtle's designs.

That's the thing. All it is is just opinion. Sure, some of the things being said are slightly off-based, but I'd hardly call "they look Shrek" insulting (at least nowhere near as bad as some of the borderline racist comments that had been spouted by one member several months back). That's just the words of some guy none of us will ever see in person. They're just a name and some words on a computer screen. There's really no need to stress about it, much less ask for a complete division of the forum.
