what I hope would happen is the 2 part OVA japanese turtle toon get released on american DVD by someone like ADVision or Tokyopop.

Tokyo Pop doesn't do anime anymore (thank heavens... Intial D and Rave Master's dubs were gosh awful stuff).

ADV getting the TMNT OVA seems unlikely.

Maybe Viz, 4kids or FUNimation directly (as they release the show for 4kids).

That'd be nice to get a dub of.

They could get almost if not all of the original cast of the 87 series to dub it or perhaps the 4kids crew. Or perhaps a mix of old cast with some new folks. I love Townsand Coleman's Mike but I think Robbie Rist's Mike from the movies is better and last I heard Barry Gordon isn't doing cartoons anymore so they could use Sam Regal of the new TMNT show for Donatello. They should be able to get Rob Pauslen (wont be cheap though) and Cam Clarke (he's still doing cartoons last time I checked). That'd be a nice mix of TMNT talent. 2 voices from the old show, 1 from the new and 1 from the original movies. And all 4 of those VAs are in LA right now I believe.

This year of the turtles idea excites my heart and imagination but makes my wallet cry.

I don't think the new movie is going to be a break-out success though so that could put a damper on things...

Hopefully the Lost Season will be a single set or maybe just two DVDs or something.

Well its 2007, I was going to bump this earlier this month stating how apparently 2007 didn't feel that much like "Year of the Turtles" then decided it was dumb,

but with all the recent announcements I actually do feel like the 'YotT"

so i decided to bump it,

I think i made this thread shortly after the Volume 2 of the 87 toon came out and they released the first Teaser poster in 2005, my predictions or 'wishful thinking' didn't turn out so bad, which is great!

Sure there are quite a few differences but not many, we are getting S4 of the 87 toon, S1 of Fast Forward, S1 of the 2k3 show, tons of TMNT movie merch in bookstores, toy sections etc, gaming magazines talking about TMNT and the closer we get to the movie the more hype.

Hopefully this carries on toward the DVD release with S5 of the 87 show and Season 2 of the 2k3 show.

Sorry to bump this topic one last time but I was not that far off.

I thought the movie was going to be released in summer so that threw off my predictions a bit.

'87 Toon did indeed get speedier releases and my release table would have probably been correct except they changed to season sets which turned out much better (and we got 2 seasons on Year of the Turtle)

2k3 did indeed get season sets, and we essentially got(will get) two season sets this year one being the first and the other the current tv season.

TNM didn't get a release but we know how Disney is.. this was a big "maybe" even then.

Oddly the Movies didn't get a special edition which I expected it to be one of the few things that did happen..oh well maybe for the sequel

(though didnt korea get re-releases? that should count)

The movie failed to become this massive hype machine but I expected it to be starting turtlemania all over again but it didn't fail either, we got McDonalds, more toys, posters games etc. So its still been a nice YotT. We even got rid of FF and got a new redesign for the show. The Year isn't over yet of course either!

oh yeah a TMNT sequel would be the great now to tie YotT

It certainly has been the year of the Turtles for me.

A year ago the Turtles were a thing of the past for me. Something I had liked a lot back in my school years.

But with the movie being released- I became obsessed again. I bought the entire 2k3 toon. I watched the entire 1987 toon. I have gotten many Mirage key issues and will be obtaining the Archie ones as well.

That said, my wanting a pet turtle has little if anything to do with TMNT. In 1998 I remember dreaming about having a pet turtle and asking my mom for one- this was a year with very little Turtle activity, and I did NOT watch TNM. Last year when I got my mice, my mom's second guess about which pet I had gotten was "a turtle". Again- no TMNT for me last year. Baka legislators from my notorious state need to pick their battles and focus on the true smugglers damaging our environment instead of forbidding a harmless pet.

Yay for the Turtles!

Warners does not know how to hype up a movie. They suck at it so badly. The film did get number one for it's opening week, but got slaughterd by Will Ferril mugging the camera and acting like a douche, and that Meet the Robinsons thing, which I was only going to see to p'o' the idiot adoption people who were protesting it.

The toys did extrememly well (so far) and the McD's promotion was unexpected.

So I'd say the movie did pretty good for itself, and should warrent a sequal.

It's been Year of Many Turtles for me.

Lots of cool Movie toys. The movie itself. Comicon meeting Kevin & others. And the best part, 5 baby turtles bred, hatched and being raised here.
News of dumping TMNTFF is good news; then excellent prospects of another TMNT movie. AND a sort of relaunch of the series.
Can't get any better.
Or maybe it can?

I gotta agree about WB, man they suck advertising TMNT. They pile in so much $$ into these bigger movies (that some are lamer) but practically ignore TMNT which has a long history of maybe what, going onto it's 3rd generation of fans? (my under 5 nephews love it)

ok, so 2003 was the year of the Matrix, 2005 year of the batman,
2007 Year of the ~~Turtles~~ Transformers etc

Anyways I do think 2012 will be a YotT for the most part, 2012 has a ton of huge films being released as I've stated before which is going to kill a lot of the turtlemania that may arise but it'll still make a big impact.

Anyways last time I made a few 'realistic' predictions and for the most part almost all of them happened, the only main thing is the new movie failed to bring back turtlemania or at least bring a lot of attention to the franchise which it failed to do. So I thought I'd make a few more 'realistic' predictions.

I do think Nick is going to bring the turtles back hard starting in 2012, we'll start seeing it next year but the full marketing muscle will be in 2012. I am pretty confident they are going to market the shell out of the turtles. The new movie will be PG-13 and marketed towards kids and older audiences like Transformers and will be released in the summer going head to head with all the big names. The new show is difficult to place, its seems the production of it is pretty ahead and would be in time for early 2012, the only thing that makes me think it won't come out until late 2012 is they bought the 2k3 show and are only going to begin airing it in 2011 and thats a lot of episodes for them to just get rid of it after 1 year but I'm still going to go with early 2012 for the new show.

Now besides that, I think we'll definitely see Lionsgate do something with the OT, we may all have complained how little attention they've given to their DVD releases but if theres one thing they've always taken advantage is of trying to cash-in with the other turtles events, whether its mimicing the 2k3 s how in their box art, releasing sets to coincide with the movie theatrical/dvd releases and even the 25th anniversary. So whether they just release the missing seasons or something more ambitious I think we'll see them releasing something (except the 3 skipped episodes

). We'll definitely have re-release on DVD/Blu-Ray of the movies even if barebones but this time I'm willing to bet will be 'special editions' we have all been waiting for. Playmates will definitely have toys a few months before the new show/movie actually air but thats not much of a prediction, they'll be pretty decent figures when compared to other current lines yet fans will complain, I also think they'll be 3 3/4" scale. Of course new videogames and tons of licensed crap to go along with it.

This was originally going to be a new thread but then I realize it was kinda stupid so why not just bump this thread and post my predictions here, which I now realize look like pretty safe predictions though I'm thinking I might be wrong on most of them since I haven't been on a roll lately

Anyway, the cinematic onslaught the Turtles will face in 2012 scared me somewhat. Hopefully Viacom/Paramount will begin rolling out teasers and building up hype over the course of next year so whenever the movie hits, people will be pumped about it.
