yeah transformers wasn't as big as come back, HeMan...that's gone already....TMNT simply is one of hte highest quality franchises out there right now. Best freaking show on 4Kids. It's not mindless violence, it teaches a bit of family importance. They dont fight unless they have to. Unless it's the huge climax to a major story arc, there's no fight just for the hec of it...there's always a reason. I'm glad parents today aren't all freaking out over the fighting part like they did way back when.

Come back??? Transformers never left! There's been so many versions of Transformers over the years. In Japan at least it's never left tv....not all incarnations have made it to the U.S.

G1 Forever!!!

Another show making a big comeback tho is Care Bears. There's 2 new movies now plus all the plushies and stuff. I just wish there'd be a movie that focuses on Love-a-lot!! She's just mostly background! It's not fair!! *hugs her Love-a-lot plushies*

This MAY have something to do with the new "future-set" TMNT series that's supposed to debut in September 2006. Leoardo15 sent me the addy for the page that had the info, but you have to subscribe to it to get to any info on ANYTHING there now! Drat it! Anyway, it was on the www.brandweek.com site. But, like we BOTH found out, you have to be a subscriber to even GET to anything there. Bummer.

Although I DID manage to print off the page with that info BEFORE they went to the "subscribers only" mode. If anybody around here WANTS to see the pertinent paragraphs from that article, I've got 'em, and I'd be MORE than happy to post 'em here. Just say the word.

Anyway, peace.

If the show is being renewed, that's fantastic!

That is pretty amazing, isn't it? I think you can throw some '70s cartoons in that mix too. The thing about TMNT is there is so much potential depth. You don't see that very much with cartoons.

Several sci-fi and fantasy shows and series have taken the 'time leap' route in trying to bring back newness and vitality when they feel they've exhausted all the good stories. This tactic is doomed to failure because 1) you're killing off most of the fictional universe that you've built and that the fans loved, and 2) you really can't do anything in the new "reset" universe that you couldn't do in the original universe, so you're just dragging your writing problems along with you.

"Xena" was a great show... until the time leap, which the writers deemed necessary to rid Xena of the burden of a toddler, who they thought was cramping her Warrior Princess style. By the end, they decided that the most dignified thing to do was kill off Xena, permanently, with a mess of arrows and decapitation. I guess you could write it off as a "greek tragedy," if you really wanted to, but the real tragedy is the death of a show due to shortsightedness.

"seaQuest DSV" did the time leap too, and that was pretty much the end of that.

However, TMNT is different... well I would hope anyway. The franchise has already gone in so many directions-- forward, backward, away from the home planet, etc-- that maybe they know more about what they're doing. Maybe they've got a plan. That's all they really need to keep it going; it's what those who failed in the 'time leap' were lacking. Anyway, how can you write Leo for years and not understand the value of a plan?!

Jetix still shows TMNT? Cause the LatinAmerican Jetix I have cancelled the show and replaced it with WINX and back-to-back episodes of Totally Spies...

I'm really glad that TMNT is going to be renewed for two more seasons, and possibly longer than that!

Yet, I don't really like the idea of TMNT 99 years from now. The concept just doesn't sit with me. If it can be done well, fine, but I just don't see how the transition could be made. All i can think of is cheesy methods (OMG, THE TURTLES WERE FROZEN! OMG, THEY FOUND THE SPECTOR OF TIME! OMG THE SHOW JUST JUMPED WITH NO EXPLAINATION!). It might be cool as a sort of "Bad Day" type of thing, where the TMNT are thrust in this wierd timeline and they're not sure how to get out, only to find that its Lord Simlaneteous or Renet or Romeo Savanti's fault... but I won't like it if it was a permanent change to the show.

I think Mikey's Girl's prediction makes more sense. It would be a logical step for the show to take--explore the family dyamics if Splinter, their father and mentor, died. Hmm.. perhaps that will be the season finale? Leo snaps out of it when Splinter dies or something liek that?

Interesting what has been said of Splinter possibly getting killed--or maybe seriously injured due to Leo. Oh man, I think that would be way too sad. And the writers had really better make it worth it. Never ever kill off a main character unless there is 1)justification and 2) payoff. Otherwise, it'll feel excessively heavy, like one of those tragic fanfictions or asian soap-operas. Tho, much as I adore the radical rat, that possibility is not totally out of question. Because that would certainly make things more poignant and would provide definite meat for future seasons. Hoy. That would sure make the series very dark. Perhaps uncomfortably so.

Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.

Indeed, although how much has Sensi's death affected Vol. 4? I mean he's gone, but where's ther remorse. They've just moved on.... I think they'd all especially Leo, and maybe Raph (I'm using the poinent scene from TMNT 1 as the guide for that statement) would feel some lose....heck in retrospect Donnie and Mikey'd feel it too, have the moarned thew loss of Splinter in the comics? I hope or wish they had more. If Splinter died, it'd really shake the boys and they'd all probably go after his killer like Leo is now against all who would harm his family. If it was natural, maybe they'd take it easier, like vol. 4...*shrugs* The closest person to me that died that i even remotly rember is my Great grandfather and Uncle Bill, and to be honset they weren't that close. I have no real frame of refrence.

That's the truth. I like the darkness and seriousness of this show, but I DON'T want it to become depressing. Keep the lightheartedness in there. And frankly, if snapping Leo out of it is what we need, a seriously injured Splinter should be sufficient. He worries enough that his imagination can fill in the "ho crap, what could have happened..."

I have been through the awful reality of losing someone VERY close to me. Going on three years later I still cannot regain who and what I was before things happened. 'specially since it was partially my fault.

As much as the writers in this show like to keep to psychological and emotional realism....killing off Splinter right now would kill the show. They are too young. They are in their thirties right now in the comics...you don't wanna loose a parent in your teens. They'd have to change the name of the show to Teenage Mutant Dispondent Turtles...it'd be too sad.

Well that sounds so sad

Well I agree killing Splinter would MAYBE but maybe a seroius injury or where he fell in a coma. That make 1. Leo vs Raph for leadership the way things should be handled or the way Splinter woulda handled things. 2. I think MIkey shows some emotion or depends too much on his brothers. 3. Don......well Don just make more machines But I think Raph would try to take over for leadership beliving his ways are better while Leo stands his ground making himself the true leader
