Already owning all the 2k3 DVD's and FF, I don't mind this approach. Sometimes at night I pass out watching my DVD's. Thing is, when I wake up, I like for episodes or movies to still be playing so the menu image doesn't burn into my 57 inch HD widescreen. So having the same ammount of episodes as season 4 or FF volume 1, is entirely fine with me.

Oh and there's the issues that the end of my 400 disc DVD player is going to be filled with both Turtle series overtime, makes this approach even better.

2k3 Season 1 comprised of 8 DVD's now shrunk to 4. I'll take that.

2k3 Season 2 comprised of 6 DVD's now shrunk to 4. I'll take that.

Yea, six disc loss already, I like them odds. Leaves more room for all the blockbuster movies of yesteryear.

Oh and the kicker to all this is my assumption. Taking their time to release each part of each season, allows for more people to find out about the Turtles. The more that people keep buying things Turtle related, the more we might keep seeing a show on the air.

If they include bonus features (this one or next), I'll be buying it.

You mean new bonus features, right? That's the only way I'd bother with it. Being jerked around like this has exhausted my ample supply of patience. They have to do something really impressive for me to even consider getting the Fast Forward DVD now. May gobo have mercy on their souls...

Sorry gobo, but I think this'll be their last go. If people don't buy these, then the next part won't come out or any more TMNT DVD's period (that'd better not include the Tribunal season though). Besides, I'd really want to see the bonus features on the 1st season DVDs, so why shouldn't they include them on this?

Okay, kids, I found the following on the official website just now. Maybe it will answer SOME questions.

Joe Lyons from 4Kids Entertainment sent this info regarding the season set DVDs:

Season 1 Part 1 will be in stores May 22. It will feature the first 12 episodes with part 2 out in September. The cover will feature original sketched comic-style art.

The cover may be a step in the right direction. But, is it enough to warrant a purchase? The fact that what used to take up four volumes of shelf space will now only take up one is a good thing, but they have lost my appreciation. Being that we now have confirmation of this new development without any mention of bonuses suggests to me that they aren't even planning to reissue the original supplementary materials. Even with my immense love for the show, this has gone to the bottom of my list of priorities until further notice.

I'm buying them!

The real test will be when they start doing the rest of the seasons...will they have the eps in order or not?

Surely not Season 4. They don't want to have to replace all those Season 4 sets they already released. I guess they'll be out of business before they realize that you can't just sweep your mistakes under the rug forever. I'd gladly pay $35 for a full Season 1 set with some bonuses, but we may never get one at this rate. That's what I'd pay for a 26-ep collection from Warner. Why they thought no one would pay more than $1/ep for all 26 is beyond me.

They only released that one Season 4 "set" which I can easily see them revamping in proper order. 4kids/FUNI typically release their anime in DVD sets over and over again, they may do it with TMNT as well. I don't see them re-doing FF though because with the 13 eps set for that, there's no reason too.

Well, the reason for THAT might be that the FF eps are in the correct airing order. Why re-issue them IF they got it right the FIRST ime?

For once.

I think I'm gonna import it (Maybe with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya volume 1) , since I have only seen bits of season 1 on TV. $17 isn't that bad at all for only the half of one season, but I actually don't trust Funimation so much after what they have done to Dragon Ball Z (Widescreen (DBZ is 4:3 scale, not 16:9), cropped, *cough* the way it was meant to be seen according to Funi *cough*).

Considering I didn't buy any of the sinlge disks (with the exception of Shredder Strikes abck, only for the Kirby ep. with the alternate ending), I am still looking forward to this. I will say there's no excuse for it being released like this, but it's a step in the right direction, at any rate.

But unless they're all released close together (which they won't be) it'll take FOREVER to get the entire series in semi-sets.

But then again, 10-12 bucks for 12 episodes beats 15-17 bucks for 4 episodes anyday!

Like it really matters as long as they get all the way to season 4 part 1 and they fix the damn order I don't care. A season 4 set would be retarded at this point since half the season is out in order already.

Plus they make more off single releases.

It was only mostly in order. But, I expect them to consider that to be 'good enough'.

May 22nd, eh? I said originally that I wouldn't go for it but the whole "less discs to mess with" idea seems like a good reason and 6 episodes on a standard DVD shouldn't be too packed with info to make the video quality lower.

I wouldn't expect too much in the deptartment of extras, though.

It would just become "season 4 part 2", then. Only, not labeled that way. They'd probably rerelease it with updated labeling in the future anyway... I just wouldn't need to get it.
