yeah, but it is really really dated, none of the jokes works, the animation is crappy and the villains are a joke, nostalgia is not enough to save it this time...

This is the coolest post I have ever seen. I'm putting it in my signature!

I would have to agree, I wasn't a huge fan of the cartoon series as a kid. I ended up watching them anyway though, even if the movies were my all time favourites. I have tried to re watch them as an adult and while I can force myself through the episodes, I don't find the nostalgia to save them at all.
The new series on the other hand, is great.

With Nickeloden involved, do you not think they would be assertive about the movie appealing to their audience and being easy for them to swallow?
This is a good point, and one I had myself about the Shredder. In fact, I would put money on the reasoning for the script re-write was because Nickeloden (''Paramount'') felt that it wandered way to far from source for their liking. I'm really hoping this is true, and Nickeloden turns out to be the saviors for this movie. After all, if anyone can stop reckless producers/directors it's them.

I have always taken solace in the fact that Nickeloden wouldn't let anything too far from what they are putting out on their show. I mean, Nick have made good choices thus far. I think they are trust worthy.

Man imagine the rage if those humans end up being androids as well, then it will really go downhill in the discussion.

It would have actually been pretty neat to see those old cartoon robots all black with pads and with huge glowing eyes.

People would hate it - until the trailer showed the turtles laying into them with their weapons, no holds barred, slashing and banging and stabbing, spreading robo-guts all over the place.

Perhaps this a "modern" incarnation of the Shredder where he has moved away from his ninja roots, using guns and technology, whereas Splinter keeps things traditional. Could be an interesting story point. And it ups the conflict for the Turtles to go up against guns. As long as Schrader is not a real thing...

Agreed. It's funny because, I'll admit, when I first heard that Nick was taking over the franchise, I was dreading the worst. Now though, I wouldn't trust anyone but them.

Haha, I'd compromise robotic foot ninja/soldiers for mindless violence.

Honestly, as much as I would love a traditonal Shredder, I've come to the conclusion that I could live with an American Shredder. Hell, I could even live with Col. Schrader and his ''squad of gun-totting Foot Soldiers''. They would have to do 3 things though: they have to make the character have a fascination with Japanese culture (or at least ninjas), have the character don THE Shredder suit (blades, helmet, cape, spikes, the works), and his name has to be ''The Shredder'' at some point (and not just as a joke). If they fail to do even one of these things, then they fail to do The Shredder right in my eyes.

I will be very dissapointed if they ruin the Shredder! Who was that idio who thought about the military foot?? Foot were and will be ninjas. Only in the OT they were robots with guns but in Mirrage IDW and 2K3 and current Nickelodeon cartoon are ninjas with traditional ninja weapons. Lot of fans will be dissapointed if they try to do something completely different than we are used too and love.

The "idiot" was/is pretty much all of the people who post in the movie section of this forum, myself inclusive. If you hadn't noticed, it seems they are borrowing heavily from the OT. How do you know they *will* be ninjas?

Someone with a more extensive knowledge of the Mirage books, don't the Foot occasionally use guns in those?

Yup. As I said earlier, I was reading some books from the Return to New York series last night and the Foot used guns.

I think any self respecting ninja would pick up a gun to shoot someone in the face if they were going to be killed.

Especially crime lord underlings or a special forces military unit of ninjas.

While it would be very neat, I doubt they will have anything close to the actual foot logo from the old cartoon it would be neat but it would look cheesy.

how about when the foot clan was a bunch of punk kids and martial art enthusiasts? That will take you back to the 1990 live action film.

I justify the new Foot by remembering that Sam Fisher commented on being a SIGINT ninja for Third Echelon while breaking into the CIA.

If it's an armed to the teeth with assault weapones vs. mutants with Kobudo weapons then this is going to be the shorted most one sided fight in the history of Michael Bay movies.

Action Scene:
Michelangelo kicks Foot soldier in the chest, other foot soldier picks him off, from 100 yards away.
Leo, Raph, and Donatello run after the sniper and are mowed down by 3 foot soldiers with AR-15's.

The End

Credit Role

Even in GI Joe retaliation, the ninjas look like ninjas. I really hope we'll see the bug eyed Foot, cause I personally think their look is unique enough that it would be dumb not to use them for a new movie franchise.

That was just the way of getting fresh recruits, and keeping the Foot in numbers. They still looked like the classical bug eyed Ninja the Foot have usually been portrayed.

Speaking of GI Joe, I was gonna say the Foot just look like a group of evil Snake Eyes. He's totally a ninja but not in the most commonly known sense. But he uses guns and swords... in a modern TMNT film I would think a Foot Clan that follows the look and style of Snake Eyes would actually seem a bit more formidable than basic black gi ninja.

as long as they have the bug eyes instead of the black visor, I'd be fine with that. The IDW Foot that have the classics masks are completely mono colored and could be wearing better protection then just cotton cloth.
