In Eastman's TMNT Artobiography, he mentioned that he and Peter based Renet on a real girl who was a neighbor of their's and was somewhat absent-minded but smart.

That was the thing that always mystified me about the turn the franchise took when Eastman and Laird licensed the cartoon and the parallel comic book published by the same outfit that gave us Archie. The turtles' original origin story? The whole thing hinges on a for-Christ's-sake rape-murder!!!!
from here.

Because she's blonde and has a Valley Girl accent. I think that would more than qualify her as a bimbo or a ditz at the very least. She was always getting into trouble and not knowing what she was doing all of the time, so it doesn't surprise me that people would think that.

Well, except the Kardashians. They've ruined Deep Space Nine for me because whenever I try to talk about how deceptive and brutal the Cardassians are, people totally misunderstand me.
Well, I always thought that Bruce Jenner looked a lot like Odo....so.
So far this is the only Renet/Bimbo post I can find....but to be fair, I ain't looking that hard, yet.

This is a "defence" of Renet:

So...dave did once:

No wonder Savanti wanted to sacrifice her. He even said himself in "Time Travails" that he didn't know how Lord Simultaneous puts up with her.
And here's one:

But to be fair, there are only a few. I think Megan Fox has been called a bimbo more than Renet.

Actually, no. It's a term usually reserved for the stereotypical "Valley Girl" type- Big-boobed, (usually) blonde, air-headed, and with tight outfits that accentuate their *ahem* best attributes.

Renet is is airheaded, but I wouldn't consider her a bimbo. Either way, Kevin Eastman did create her back in the 80's so... not much else needs to be said lol

Her first two appearances in Mirage absolutely played her up as air-headed and played on certain "ditzy blonde" tropes as part of the joke of her character (both she and Savanti were quite tongue-in-cheek). Later appearances treated them both quite a bit more seriously, which ... is generally true of most elements of the Mirage series, and the series itself as a whole.
