I was hoping for a Mutanimals spin off but I am not surprised at all by this

to everyone who enjoys this kind of thing: enjoy it.I am happy for you.
This right here, is how I feel about the original toon, and most things that are derived from the original toon.

Is there any word if they're going to use the same VA cast from the Nick toon for this iteration? (I can't see why they wouldn't, though...man, I hope it's more nuanced than just those guys going all baby-talk.)

As long as this is just a one-off thing and doesn't become a series like Teen Titans Go, I have no problem with it.

Awesome, more turtles media! & in 2D! & just 2 days before my birthday! Siiiick. It's a thinly veiled toy commercial, but I don't even care. We never get specials, so this is really cool.

I like it too, I like the Halfshell Hero look, and to see an traditional animated special seems cool to me!
Will def. watch this.

I would love nothing more than a TMNT-style Teen Titans Go!
That show is awesome!

But that show isn't like that. At all. Its more of a self-aware satire.

Why wouldn't they use the same voice cast? Its made by the same people and with the same Nick designs. There's no point for them to recast.

Maybe I'm just a fan of the original Teen Titans Go series and don't understand what makes it good. They make a mockery of Robin and ruined the Starfire / Robin pairing that series took three seasons building up to. I'd hate for them to that to Leo and the turtles, Raph would be like Piggy of Muppet Babbies

So this is the spin-off that was rumored? Cool idea. I'm guessing this special is being paid by the company that makes those figures. It's something extra that doesn't affect the main show, I don't see why people are all upset about it. It's not like the Nick show is for adults, it's just as much for kids.

I never watched the original Teen Titans 'toon, and I'm not really inclined to do so anytime soon. However....Teen Titans Go! is crazy pants. It's a Post-Modern takedown of Super Heroes packaged as sweetness and light.

Getting to hear Khary Payton perform a a live, acoustic "All I Know Is Pain" at this year's SDCC was one of my Con Highlights.

I think that's the problem. The original Teen Titans was a great and well written action cartoon, and that's why TT Go is poorly received because it feels like a parody of it.

You mean why you poorly receive it. The parody part is accurate though, it's a lampoon, after all.

Me not watching it isn't a problem. I've no interest.

This actually reminds me of what they're doing with Transformers. We had Transformers: Prime for the big kids (now Robots in Disguise), and Rescue Bots for the little kids. Two separate shows airing at the same time for different demographics. I think it's a great idea, and this looks adorable.

I've never seen Teen Titans Go, but Rescue Bots is a great show, so despite the younger appeal this can still be really fun to watch.

I get that showing the Turtles as kids can be a cute thing... but there's something seriously creepy about the 30, 40 year-olds around here and elsewhere actively demanding and campaigning to see the TMNT as small children on a regular basis.

What's wrong with wanting to see the Turtles as kids? I love Turtle Tots, and I'm glad they're doing a special like this as it gives younger kids a way to get into TMNT and older fans the chance to see the Turtles as kids. I'm all for it, and I'll definitely be tuning in to this show.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

It IS a parody of it. I'm not into TTG's style of humor, but I also realize that it shouldn't be compared to the original series because they're vastly different. TT was an action series while TTG is pure comedy.

I wouldn't mind an ep or two about their being kids which shows how they chose their mask colors and chose their weapons and how Splinter adapted to his new life with the turtles for this incarnation.
