In Norway we called Spider-Man "edderkoppen" which is lit. The Spider. Superman was a pretty easy one, it's just Supermann and Daredevil became Våghalsen, it has the same meaning as the Expression daredevil but it literally means daring neck.

Two-Face had a neat one, he was called Janus.

Janus is a great choice. I think that it's often used by Two-Face in the comics.

Hyundai might make just about everything.

The old Swedish name for Batman is pretty terrible, "Läderlappen". It does technically just mean "Bat" but it's just such an archaic word and whenever someone hears it they just think "Leather Patch", because that's what it's a compound of.

Green Goblin just became "Gröna Trollet", the Green Troll. There's nothing really wrong with that since Troll is a perfectly fine translation of Goblin, it's just kind of funny because Troll has become the accepted term for someone who pushes buttons to invoke anger, which is mainly what he does to Spider-Man.

Didn't you know? Obviously it's to sell merchandise.

Seriously it's not unsettling, it's more that it's out of tune with what we'd accept in our countries.

I think the 1989 Batman film slowly started the end of giving characters from hero and superhero comics and cartoons names in Swedish. (even if Batman is still called Läderlappen when TV 3 Sweden aired Superfriends during the early-1990's)
