Because people know who Seth Rogan (and earlier Michael Bay) is. I had to look up Jeff Rowe.
Though the fact he worked on Gravity Falls gives me a bit of hope.

Ah ok, so this isn't as ambitious as I thought. I'm really curious to what they will do and what villains they'll choose, will they be like origin stories and the turtles will show up? Villains I can see carrying a movie by themselves would be Triceratons, Baxter Stockman,

They should look into the IDW comics where some of the TMNT villains had there own comic mini series.

It's not a bad idea, it's literally just a setting and it's one ripe with many story possibilities

I am digging the concept art. I’m tired of having negative feelings about newer TMNT stuff. So please make this good.

As much as I think it's too soon to worry about franchise building before seeing if the first movie is well received, the idea of unrelated villains movies is just bizarre.

I know they're just fodder to build Paramount+ content library, but Sony's Spider-Man villains universe without Spider-Man feels pretty pointless (is anyone really looking forward to Morbius?) and even Spidey's B-list villains are more well known than TMNT villains (outside of maybe Shredder, Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady). At least if they were connected it would feel like maybe there was some purpose to them.

That's somewhat promising from where I'm standing. The more shots we have, the better. Maybe this universe can be of a slightly different flavor that appeals to a different breed of fans.

As far as the turtles, they look like Kermit but it's only concept art, it'll look much different once it's all said and done. We always knew this was going to be aimed at kids. At least they seem to be doing something new so I'll give them props for that.
A movie about me will be the best movie ever made! Batman is nothing compared to me!

The 2023 Seth Rogen CG movie will be followed up by direct-to-streaming movies about TMNT villains debuting on Paramount Plus. I assume from the same universe as the new film, but it's hard to tell based on wording.

No news on a new cartoon yet, but I get the feeling something based on the 2023 movie might happen especially if it's a hit.
Which villains? If it were up to me it would be:
  • Shredder
  • Karai
  • The Triceratons
  • The Purple Dragons
  • Rat King
  • Savanti Romero
  • Old Hob
  • Bishop

But let's face it, it's Viacom/Paramount, so it'll probably be:
  • Shredder
  • Krang
  • Bebop and Rocksteady
  • Tokka and Rahzar
  • Mutagen Man
  • Leatherhead (labelled as a villain)
  • Rat King
  • Karai (if we're lucky)

Obviously I'm hoping more for my list but... They are going to give Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady solo movies...

Well, I always hope movies are better than I expect... I just don't expect much here...

Great idea, then general audiences can finally see how much ass it sucks!

I see the potential of doing movies about the villains, which would lead up to a live action TMNT movie as a result.

While a movie about Shredder is the most obvious, They can also do a movie about Bebop and Rocksteady, How a pair of wannabee street thugs became a rhino and warthog.

These movies can work as interconnected stories.

Also I doubt the movies based on the villains will be real full-length movies. They probably mean something like 40 minute specials at most. Obviously a villain isn't going to get an hour and a half movie, especially if they make multiple of them like they say they are.

I’d think they will be more around the hour to an hour and a half range personally. If they were only 40 minutes it would be a series of specials rather than movies.

Remember that we are also getting a new live action TMNT movie that they announced about a year or so ago, And with the news of these villain movies, It will probably be related to that new live action movie.

Most of us think that has been canned in favor of this. It might not have been but... Well, TMNT ain't exactly Spider-Man. Sony may have 14 movies and a live-action TV show for Spider-Man but I doubt Paramount is willing to do the same for TMNT:

Sigh. Yeah whatever about the do-rag, the Turtles have been drawn like that since the early days, but I would like to know what idiot behind the scenes insists on Don needing glasses and a bucktooth. I sort of feel like people who make kids' cartoons have a responsibility to not constantly reinforce stereotypes and rely on lazy tropes, but whatever.

It's not like it would be too incredibly trailblazing to have a smart character not have to fit into this one visual representation. I mean, if in the 90s they could make Rhinox look like this:
rhinox.jpg
I think we can handle a tech guy having some visual complexity.

Think if we complain they'll change the look like what happened with that Sonic film?

I like both but is it really that much harder to make turtles compared to a hedgehog?

I wish they'd already give us an release date for that Rise movie.

Then, avoid all online discussions about upcoming TMNT stuff. The Internet has made it very easy for fans to break it all down just after one concept art image. This isn't the early 1990's when you just heard a movie was in production, and was exciting for months (maybe it was all a schoolyard rumour, sometimes you didn't know for sure until you read it).
