Haven't had a good old Turtle junk thread for a while...

I dunno, not sure they count since they don't wear much because they grew up that way and probably seems weird and restrictive to them, rather than rejecting clothing for the reasons an actual nudist might, and will tolerate it when they must.

Also, from the writing angle I guess it's just easier to write them as "green people" instead of constantly trying to figure out "What would an actual turtle think/feel/do?" Because that would be pretty impossible to figure.

I mean, I get it. But the insistence some have that they merely BE "green people" rather defeats the entire purpose of them being mutants or turtles at all. We have people right here talking about "keeping it real" insofar as depictions of genitalia while in the same breath speaking of various ways they're essentially just like people (even though an animal mutated into a humanoid would probably NOT be "just like people"). The disconnect runs deep even on an individual level.
Not to mention the fact that even if they were 'green people', they were raised in isolation for 15 years to be ninjas. Aside from picking up slang from TV, the Turtles wouldn't have reason to act like 'human teenagers' because they weren't raised like human teenagers.

And yet in some fans' headcanon, all they truly aspire to is to eat McDonalds, wear Abercrombie and go to high school like everybody else.

Madness.

Preach. And sure, maybe there'd be a little bit of imitation of what they might think human teenagers "their age" would be like based on TV shows and such, but that's all it would be. An imitation. It wouldn't be coming from a real place inside of them because they wouldn't share anything remotely like the formative experiences of any of those human teenagers.

This is where in the past the Crisler's Law people come in and go, basically, "Huhuhuh, well it's about four mutant turtles and a rat living in a sewer! Why shouldn't they just be exactly like human teenagers? Plus wasn't Mirage a parody anyway? Huhuhuhuh!"

Especially considering in Mirage they were originally raised to be ninja assassins.

I kinda want to think those Turtles were extremely serious and focused on their art almost 24/7. It was until Shredder was killed that Splinter probably eased up and let them watch TV and goof off here and there. When you look at it that way, it kinda makes sense that they wouldn't have much of a personality in issue 1 and develop more after they achieved their mission.

Hell I can even take it further that Splinter once saw the Turtles as his soldiers of death and nothing more but as the years went on, and after they killed Shredder, he started feeling more like an actual father figure and less of a sensei.

After all, it's not like he can say 'alright, y'all killed Saki, now get the **** out'.

I also think meeting April AFTER killing Shredder helped them move past 'kill Shredder' and get more 'humanized'.

Well I guess we're gonna have to wait and see but it sure doesn't sound too promising on that front.

You know when the Turtles do occasionally wear human pants in either disguises or just randomly (its happened in the comics, cartoons, etc) it always looks kinda weird. But then you realize they really are running around nude most of the time (not counting the bandana's or belts), so it's weird to think about.

I read a children‘s book a couple of weeks ago in which one character would refuse to wear any pants in the morning. Her reasoning? ‚Your butt and your punani are the parts of your body that get the least air.‘ Just think about that.
