Once again even Turtles Forever pointed out every single flaw with the original so it's so cannon that even the new generation turtles know it. There's nothing wrong with opinions, but to whine about these problems and wanting the line and show to die for it? Talk about excessive whining there and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone when I mean that. Besides I never said it was perfect nor this line, I was shocked at how Dogpound came out and Kraang blew my mind how sloppy he was. So I;m only upset with people losing hope in the line for one figure and wanting to rage quit about it. Overall I have no problem with anyone's complaints and I'm not going to continue this discussion anymore.
You're obnoxious. First of all, hardly any toys had decent articulation back then. That's the difference. There's no argument to be made there. In the age of Marvel Legends, Hot Toys, etc, where most toys/collectibles are super articulated or at leeeeeast decent, these happy meal toys are inexcusable.

Turtles Forever, while enjoyable, mocked the OT and exaggerated its style of humor. One could argue it even bastardized the Fred Wolf turtles. & it didn't even come close to pointing out all of it's flaws, which mostly stemmed from animation errors.

Now, who said the show should die for it? I'll answer for you- Nobody. Shut the hell up. & nobody wants Nick to stop making toys, we want Nick to hire a better company so that fans will be happier and they'll make more money. The opposite of what you're claiming.

People aren't losing faith because of one toy. This toy is the 6th or 7th one to be MAJORLY FLAWED and this is the straw that broke the camels back. It's not rage quitting when you give chance after chance only to remain disappointed.

& if you didn't have a problem with anyones opinions you wouldn't continue to argue to the same points, guy.

For one thing, this decline started gradual, but became sudden. That's why I'm concerned.

Like someone else said, the problem with the Nick line is that it's inconsistent. we'll be treated to great figures (Battle shell turtles, new shredder, mousers, snakeweed) and then we get disappointed when a crappy one shows up, like Mutagen Man. I mean, just look at series 7. Kirby Bat and Mutagen Man look terrible with bad paint/details AND articulation, while Casey look promising with decent articulation and accessories, and Squirrelanoid is the best looking VISUALLY. Come on, take a look at Mutagen Man here:

Spoiler:

Now take a look at Squirrelanoid:

Spoiler:

Squirrelanoid's paint is great IMO. The different shades of red and brown make him very interesting to look at, especially the shading on his chest. And then Mutagen Man...just what the heck. Do you see what I mean? These two toys in particular look like they're from different companies!

WOW, Playmates. Really? You couldn't even sculpt the insides in the right color plastic? Honestly, I'm usually one to be pretty satisfied with their overall output in the new line and only have a few complaints (Most of them are purely cartoon accuracy and paint job-related since I don't really care about some characters having fewer accessories simply because certain ones don't really need them and the inconsistent articulation because I just display them), but this is just incredibly lazy and sloppy. I mean, he looks like he has a hypnotic alien owl resting in his chest, not human organs! Still going to pick it up, but it's incredibly disappointing. Guess we can call this misstep "Bluetagen Man."

Umm... they sure are cutting corners with these newer figures, are they trying to saving money for movie line or something?

I think they invest in what they think will sell. So the Battle Shell turtles might have lots of articulation, some mostly good paint, and several accessories and be a pretty good deal for $8.88. All because Turtles are reliable sellers.

Meanwhile Mutagen Man might be a pretty consistent shelf warmer when he gets out, and they have to make a profit off of much fewer sold figures. They also ensured kids won't want him by making him super visually repulsive.

You hit the nail right on the head. I think Playmates themselves might have said this before (minus the "visually repulsive" part ). I think that it makes more since to do the unpopular characters good as well. As you said, by making the unpopular characters cheaper, it makes them even more likely to be peg warmers. I have been hard on this line before. I really do enjoy collecting it, and I have every unique character, discounting variations. I just feel that this latest batch of figures has been pretty unimpressive. It's not a big deal, however. I will just use that money for better figures from other companies and other lines.

8.88 for some of you... but where i live these go for 10.99 unless there is a sale. I seriously don't think these newer figures live up to that price point at all. I'm this close to just stop bothering with this line, I'm getting more into LEGO and Japanese figures anyway. I don't have room in my budget for garbage.

I am starting to feel this way as well. We all have to remember that no one is forcing us to buy these. I know this is obvious, but sometimes I forget this myself. I am getting into Lego and Japanese figures as well. I am probably going to collect all of the MMPR Figuarts figures, as well as some others, such as DBZ. These cost around $35 to $40 a pop, and I am planning on getting all 8 of them. Therefore, I need to save all the money I can. I am starting to run out of space as well, even though I have 3 Detolf cabinets and other display room in my bedroom. I just have to be more selective. I want to see the next wave, and see if it is getting any better. I doubt it will, however. The first wave turtles, Shredder #2, and the Mousers are still the best of the line IMO. The turtle toys are starting to go for more money. TRU online has all the basic figures at $10.99, where they used to be $8.99. Kmart has them at $9.99, where they used to be $7.99. At least Walmart has held steady at $8.88 for quite a while. I think Target is still at $8.89 or something. 10 bucks is about my threshold for these figures, especially the weaker ones. I know that it sounds weird to complain about 10 dollar figures when I am shelling out $40 for Figuarts, but those are very nice collectibles with perfect everything. I guess I will not spend my money on TMNT from now on, at least if they keep this low quality going forward.

Toys R Us pricing is screwy. For $10+ I might as well buy a Transformer at least they haven't completely skimped on paint apps, but the plastic quality lately is questionable...

I know that TRU pricing is pretty sporadic, but I do believe that some retailers are beginning to increase prices, perhaps permanently, for the line.

I think the current $8-$9 price point is decent, figures tend to move and I find what I want eventually. Raising the price and then adding more figures that will obviously warm is a bad idea.

The wort thing about Mutagen Man is the continuity error on the card. It says he works for the Kraang, when he's really on the side of the Foot. But then again, apparently Rat King, an independent, and Squirrelanoid and Cockroach Terminator, totally wild creatures with no sapience whatsoever, are also said to be working for the Kraang...

Well, technically, he is a product of the Kraang, so I guess that's why they did that. Or, maybe the Kraang find him and turn him against the guys somethin' awful for a while. As for the others, well, they too became as they are thanks to mutagen, which the Kraang put on earth.

I'd love to pay $8-10 for the figures. Here they are $16, although toys r us had them for $14 around Yule.

Now to be fair this is actually a problem. If Mutagen Man looks like this, I don't want to know what happens to Rahzar. I really do hope things improve over at Playmates.

It's sad. Back in the vintage line I loved the turtles, sure. Every kid did. However, I also loved the crazy 'repulsive' looking characters like Mutagen Man, Wyrm, and Muckman.

You don't see characters AS crazy like that in the new line, or if you do like the new Mutagen Man, they seem 'toned down' as it were at least in toy form. Snakeweed is a good example given they removed the visible bones in his legs on the toy the show version has.
