cheers to all

Okay, first of all...I gotta say that there was a pay phone. I saw it.

Second of all. Someone made the comment there there are a lot of new members. I guess you could say that I am and I'm not. I've been reading through these forums for like a year now...but i decided it was time to join in the talks....because I never really had anything creative to say...or any clue on how to do all the extrodinary cool stuff you guys do! (cheers to you all who are wiser than I )

And finaly, I wanted to be like Kali and create an alias. (Don't you all just love her site? I DO I DO) I chose Shadow for a few reasons...you'll soon learn them all.

Rename your pic with a .txt extension to get around Tripod's hoting rules.

>>> first of, i loved the original cartoon when i was a kid, but lost interest in it at around the 3rd season...and as i grew up, the animated turtles didn't, and more and more each year did it cater to the younger audience..which was fine with me, cuz i found solace in the comics..which were much more mature..and authentic, seeing that was eastman and laird's vision in the first place...

True, but I still watched the show once in awhile (old habits die hard), up until the fourth or fifth episode of Next Mutation, then the Turtles died for me.

>> so to make a long story (kinda) short ..i love the direction the new animated turtles are taking..is it better than the original? yes, in terms of technical aspects, authenticity and atmosphere

I agree.

>>> ...and no, in terms of nostalgia...nothing can replace what the original turtles did for me as a kid..but i'm a grown up now..and i'm not wearing a costume...(sorry, had to say that)

Exactly! Nothing could EVER replace the original in our memories, which is why it's cool they decided to change things. If they tried to recreate the old cartoon, people would probably complain that it's too stupid and made for babies like people did for the Next Mutation show (I know I did). Besides, nothing is ever as good as you remember it being as a kid. I can't stand the 3 Stooges now and I loved them when I was a kid.

I'm really happy they attempted to make the show enjoyable for the fans who are over 20 now, unlike Next Mutation. And I can't stress enough how awful Next Mutation was. I'm wondering if no one saw that show because hardly no one is bringing up how lucky we are the new cartoon isn't like that show. Thank God and Peter Laird this new cartoon didn't go in that direction!!!

>>> no qualms about the background.

I don't think they were bad on a whole, just some were real empty and flat, like the sewer walls at the start. I never got a feeling the Turtles were in their lair, no furniture or posters on the walls (that I remember seeing).

>>> the cinematics are great! (love the widescreen transistions)

Yes!!!

>>> ...no pupils..sweet fighting scenes..no excessive corny one-liners.

All good stuff.

>>> favorite part is when raph is positioned on the light pole with his bandana in the wind (classic homage to the comics)...

Didn't even notice that until I saw your avatar. Really cool.

>>> cons: ..opening song

I just don't get why people hate the song so much. There's no way any song is going to sound as good as something that was ingrained into your head a million times as a kid. I know the first song was better, but the new song is okay. It could be worse (coughNext Mutationcough)

>>> raphs voice (trying to hard for that new york accent..voice actor in the first TMNT movie had it down pat)..splinters voice (not 'japanese' enough)..

Raph's voice is weird, but I thought Splinter sounded cool.

>>> finally...its the first episode, and i'm sure its hard to reintroduce legends the right way in 30 min to the people seeing it for the first time and to the people who've seen it before

Definitely.

>>> so, even though they might have overdone each turtles personality, i'm sure its only temporary, only to introduce and establish who they are (i mean, the kids today don't have the benefit of "splinter taught them to be ninja team, leonardo leads, donatello does machince, raphael is cool but rude, michelangelo is a party dude")..

Good point.

I haven't been this excited about the Turtles in 10 years, which is a weird feeling, but a good one.

i was thinkin..if it tried to really stay true to the comics, how would it look if all their bandana's were the same color (red)...i don't think it would be bad...of course identifying them would be hard at times..but we always have the weapons and voice for reference...oh well..just a thought

True....it would not be too difficult to determine who is whom if they all had red bandannas. However, people have come acustomed to the those colored bandannas. That is how I remembered them is by those colors. I just recently discovered the Mirage comics (18 months ago)

If they were all red...

*They go back to meet Splinter in the Drainage Junction*

"Master Splinter!" - Donny

"Ah, Raphael!" - Splinter

"I'm Donny."

"Sorry my son. Raphael!"

"I'm Mikey."

"Sorry. Raphael!"

"Hey hey! That's my name!"

"Ah, good to see you."

*Leo sits in the background, forgotten as the turtles and Splinter jump into the hole*

Could also be because the only place we really saw was the dojo/training area. I also think that it would have been a bit of a waste to put so much effort into a background that was only to be used for about 5-10 minutes.

And finally LOL @ Mikey the Party Turtle's all-red-bandanna skit.

~But actually, its fun to read the Mirage books -- all black and white, or at best with all red masks -- and realized you really don't need weapons or colors to tell them apart. You can tell who's who by what they say and how they react to things. Really. You can.

I think that in fast animation, it's better they all have diffrent colored bandanas.

Yeah, but at least the rest of their bands (or whatever you want to call them) are brown... just like in the comics. Besides, I like the colored bandanas, aside from the fact that it would be hard to tell them apart if they all wore red.

No kidding, it rocks! I love it too. They look almost like they did in TMNT 1... and that's a good thing!
