Splinterson... was only used by Don to show WHO THEY WERE. He is 'splinter's son'. It's not really their last name, for goodness sakes.

That being said, I don't mind Hamato... But I like to leave it as one, personally. Like Cher... or Madonna. Or whatever.

It's their last name as far as mailing address goes.

...We are totally overthinking this insignificant detail. It's in FF, it's stupid, it doesn't MEAN anything. It was supposed to be 'cute'. 'Oh lookie, they're Splinter's sons, hahahahahahahablah blah blah.' I choose to ignore it, as it was insignificant and not really meaningful, as per their names.

Oh yeah, and stupid, lol.

Technically, if you're going to be uber picky about it, wouldn't Splinter be Splinter Yoshipet?

Just be glad they don't have the long names of the artists they were named after!

Raffaello Di Giovanni *his father* (sometimes Johanness) Santi Sanzio De Urbino of Umbria..

Leonardo Di Ser (Master) Piero Da Vinci

Donato (Donatello was his nick name! ) Di Nicollo (his father) Di Betto Bardi (grandfather)

Michelangelo Di Ludovico (his father) Di Leonardo (his grandfather, and name of his older brother) Bounarati (great-grandfather) Simoni.(great-great grandfather)

So the turtles would be like:

Raphael Di Ser Splinter Di Yoshi Di Ancient One Hamato De New York of Sewer or something like that

Hahahahahahaha that is classic.

I don't accept FF as anything remotely canon so don't think it's a particularly good basis for any assumption about full names.

Nevermind though, eh? I don't think this topic is going to resolve itself - without anything canon or comic based to back up any version of names.

Well the majority seem to agree that a middle name is the worst idea since cancer, so I feel we reached a resolution.

Thanks guys! I don't think I've ever laughed this hard reading through a thread before.

I feel as if I inadvertently wandered into some cyber Abbott and Costello sketch.

If adding a middle or last name to your common name makes for comedic gold, it may be best to stick with the celebrity one-namer. Leonardo. Donatello. Michelangelo. Raphael. They can stand on their own quite nicely.

Besides, a ninja should strike fear into one's heart, not make one giggle.

That's awesome! My email signature has always been "Wise man say: forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza," and I think it just confuses people.....

Yeah, I agree with those who place no importance to the "Splinterson" thing. To me, the simplest explanation when it comes to that is best: Donnie needed to add a last name to the envelope, so he made one up. I seriously doubt it has any implications beyond that.
