I wonder if five issues is correct. I'm guessing it'll end up being the usual four, with five in the third book to finish out the volume.

Didn't Volume 2 have shorter page counts than Volume 1? The Volume 1 issues had nearly 40 pages each.

Well thats good to know. Never occurred to me to ask him about the title being reprinted in the future (if IDW got around to it). I met Larsen at a show in Calgary Fan Expo Con just this past April. He was amused when I told him I liked TMNT Vol. 3 series. He was happy about that and got whimsical saying "at least someone enjoyed that book". Thought it was funny he thought of it like that. Got him to sign the Vol. 3 Image trade since he did do the covers and inked the book early on.

It did (and that switch actually happened with the new logo during "City at War"), but the IDW issues are also only the standard 22 pages and they seem unwilling to do more than four per book.

It also leaves a weird content gap for the third Volume 2 book (what fills out the rest of it?), but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

They still have more Shell Shocked and short back-up stories they need to add to the collections so that might round it out.

Still this is the first time Volume 2 has EVER been collected. People should be excited.

I'm so bummed that volume 2 won't be getting the hardcover treatment anytime soon. Perhaps IDW Limited will dish something special up for hardcore volume 2 fans? Glad to see it's getting some kind of collection and more exposure, but I'll probably have to pass.

To be fair to Rick Veitch, he probably needs the money a lot more than Erik Larson does... at least based on their respective levels of success.

I think the Ultimate Collections are too expensive and you saw how often delayed they are.

Volume 2 works better in this format, especially since its already in color.

ORRRRRR they're not the same at all. Larson is speaking as a publisher and Veitch is speaking as a creator. On top of that, it's not your place to tell Veitch what he should do. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks. He has every right to ask for a deal that he feels is respectful.

Bear in mind that Veitch didn't do his TMNT work for hire, but Larsen did re: TMNT vol. 3.

I still don't get why #18 is reprinted in Eastman's 25th anniversary book but not in the regular TMNT classics.

I'd prefer that volume 2 get the Ultimate treatment for two main reasons - Durability and size. (Although, Lawson annotations would seriously rock!)

I'm surprised you find the Ultimate Collections to be too expensive - the over-sized format, durable cover, and annotations from Kevin and Peter make for a nice package. Are you shopping online? I've gotten each one for under $40.

Still, I encourage anyone who hasn't read Volume 2 to pick up these collections, assuming they don't have the same personal-issues I do.

I wish there were some way more comics could be collected per trade. Wish it could be at least 6 issues per trade.

Tales collection #4 only collects #5-8 from the second run, and the Volume 2 trade is only 5 issues.

I'm really anxious to see Volume 2 finished and to see Image collected. Also curious to how those will look in color.

They'll get to Vol. 3 soon enough. Vol. 2 will only be 3 collections (hopefully 5, 5, 3 and some short stories but even the worst case scenario would only be 5, 4, 4) so we'll probably see the first Vol. 3 collection later this year or, at latest, very early next.

I do agree though, Tales needs to start collecting at least 5 issues (6 would be ideal). If the Classics collections are moving to 5 issues each then there's no reason for Tales not to.

I believe Soul's Winter is being collected after Volume 2 though. Bobby said its on track for late 2014 unless Soul's Winter isn't part of the classics line.
