Also according to people who have seen Splinter's look. He is wearing Japanese samurai clothing and has a fu man chu beard. This would be pretty weird if he started out as a white guy. Also when Sachs is explaining this to April, they are standing in front of Japanese artwork. William Fichtner also spilled the beans in an interview that in this universe there are (paraphrasing) "Several people who become Shredder".

His actual quote is "There are guys who become Shredder". He also states that anyone who wears the suit "becomes" Shredder. It's pretty vague but when I heard it a long time ago, it sounded like he was hinting at the idea that there were multiple Shredders throughout the years and Eric Sachs is just another one.

What about the whole rumor that Shredder is a Utrom, If you say several people, It can only mean We got Eric Sachs, We got a Utrom and the Shredder armor.

For some reason that makes me think there's something specific about the armor.

That's not what Fichtner is referring to when he talks about guys becoming Shredder in the film. He's talking about the entirety of the franchise.

It is a possibility. But I don't like this idea. If everyone connected to each other in some way - it makes origin of Turtles too cluttered. Too much improbable coincidences.
Though, once again, everything depends on execution.
