One thing I must say about those is that the texture/sculpting is really good. The bandannas, clothing and skin texture do look really nice, especially on Raph.

I like Don's design the best. I hate seeing Michelangelo with the "X" straps...

Don's staff looks like a fishing poll. Not sure how I feel about those figures. Are they a 6 inch scale?

No, they're the basic 12" figures. The Deluxe 12" figures are more detailed and have action features.

It's lookin like the 1990 movie figures will be the highlight of the turtle figure year for me! Except the shredder from 2014, that design is something I can get behind, it's wickedly evil and minister.

Well, the movie toys are a definite "pass" for me. I collect the NICK line and have been collecting the vintage line as well. I don't blame Playmates for these turtle figures...its just the horrible designs from the film that will keep me from buying 'em.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume, due to don already having techy stuff on his head, that the goofy looking staff isn't supposed to be a staff. Likely a collapsable baton or something along those lines that does 'other stuff.'

I'm not a 100% taken with the new movie designs, but thats probably because theyre a bit different than what i've spent the last 20 years seeing when i look at ninja turtles. Theyre certainly not unreasonable and are actually pretty cool in their own little way. I do really like how their personalities are reflected in what weve seen them wearing, though. From leo being into the 'code of honor' samarai stuff, to raph obviously being the tough mma dude, while mikey looks like hes got the dudebro-skater thing going on with don looking all 'gadgety,' things could certainly be a lot worse all things considered.

I'm not a 12 inch collector, but from the looks of things, these figures would look incredible with a wash applied to them.

Noticed today on the Casey ep, he's pretty accurate. When he's all "vigilante" he always has the brown...thing, the hood up, and face paint under the mask. He actually has a holster like the figure! The only thing is he should have two hockey sticks instead of one. Maybe sometime we could get non-vigilante Casey without paint or hood.

So Pixel Dan likes Mutagen Man, unpainted eyes and all. It's pretty weird how the vast majority of these figures are just plain missing this detail, while a rare selection have them.

EDIT:

Bonus back-to-back review for Kirby Bat:

He's really not all that enthused about this figure, or the character in general. He makes an erroneous statement about his name, saying he's called Wing Nut on the show. Mikey suggests the name, but Donny quickly shoots it down out of respect for Kirby O'Neil.

My mutagen man has painted eyes. The open hand came off when I was trying to move it. Is it supposed to do this?

Yes. It does that so you can fill the hand with ooze or water, and then watch it drip out after putting the hand back on.

Yes. Put a gelatin substance inside it, it will make fun times happen.

Pixel Dan got the unpainted eye version... I wonder just how widespread this error is? Seems to be a lot of them out there. Dammit Playmates.

Starting to think I should consider myself lucky that the first one I saw and bought had eyes & pupils.

To those with this version (eyes but no pupils), if I were you i'd get myself a black sharpie and carefully put some on there. Not at all hard to do.

That's what I did. I'm not running across the universe to get pupils. The small tip ones work best.

Fourth and final figure of this last wave gets reviewed. He even puts it side-by-side with an old Kenner Xenomorph figure.

He doesn't seem to have any complaints whatsoever.
