One argument I will never, ever accept, about anything, is, "It's a movie about (Franchise X), any fan should support it." That's flat-out wrong. Wanting product for the sake of product is not "being a fan", it's being a slave to consumerism and nothing more than that. Saying, "A fan should buy/support anything with (Franchise X) on it" is what leads to terrible movies/cartoons/video games/TV shows in the first place. When a company like Platinum Dunes, WB, DC, Marvel, Disney, etc., hears people say that, it gives them the excuse to rubber-stamp and release a bunch of garbage simply because it makes them money. Don't say sh*t like that. "Batman F*cking Forever" happened because of that sh*t, because in 1995, they could get away with it. And when they saw they didn't quite ruin Batman enough, they made a movie ten times worse two years later, just because they could. No sane person wants that to happen again.

I want a great TMNT movie, too, but if it turns out bad - truly, objectively, not "opinion"-based "It's bad", but inarguably, sincerely, "Street Fighter: Legend Of Chun-Li"-style, "This movie is a pile of sh*t," then... well, then it deserves to fail. IF it's that bad. A bad movie that makes a ton of money is only going to lead to more bad movies. How many "Fast & Furious" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" are we up to now? Those movies are godawful, but they make huge money so they'll never, ever stop making them. TMNT deserves a better fate than that.

And I honestly don't think it will be THAT bad. To make a movie as bad as "...Chun-Li", they'd have to be actively trying to make as awful a movie as they can. And I don't think they're doing that, I just think they're coming at the franchise from a questionable direction and I'm not as excited as I should be for this movie. I'll support it if it deserves to be supported, NOT just because "It's TMNT".

Dude, next time you have a thought, post it, and then have another thought... instead of posting again, just hit the "Edit" button and add it to the prior post. Especially when both posts are a sentence long each. Some of the people here are even bigger jagoffs than I am and I'm shocked they haven't already jumped on you for it, but they will. I'm just trying to help out. Edit Button. It seems like not a big deal, but people hate it. Thanks.

I'm a much bigger TMNT fan than I am of GotG -- I can count the number of GotG comics I've read on one hand -- but I want the better movie to make more money because ultimately that's what should be rewarded. Raising the bar on successful comic/genre movies sends a message that quality is important, and that'll hopefully lead to better movies in the long run.

Personally, the track records of the director and the producers of GotG give me way more faith in that movie. Everything I've seen from that movie has me excited. I wish I could say the same for TMNT, but I can't.

I'unno, ask Jesus to help you? I don't know, man, at least do what I do and skim what you wrote before you post it. You'll at least have time to remember the other stuff you wanted to say, and can make one long post that makes a concrete point instead of a bunch of short semi-pointless ones. That's a quick way to get under people's skin around here. Not me so much... that 92 back-to-back posts thing you did yesterday was pretty absurd, though. I think at least 63 of them said the same exact thing. It's generally frowned upon.

I find it a little weird that every time I defend the TMNT franchise "at all" people immediately try to counter it lol. People can stomp up and down this TMNT forum with this same " fanatic" mentality making these premature threads regarding GOTG but the second someone shows some enthusiasm for TMNT they get a "Woe woe woe dude.. Be realistic.. and watch your mouth around here" type of response. It is truly unbelievable..
People continuing to drop Bays name just so they can be dismissive of everything and everyone else involved IS a solid argument? Who is anyone to judge the folks involved claiming that they don't " care " about telling a story with dialog? Come on.. None of you guys know any of these people personally or at all for that matter so how can you make that claim? And no one knows what the dialog will be like. Not until it's released in full.

I swear the internet is like one big annoying herd of sheep repeating the same trend phrases over and over again .

Bottom line.. This whole notion of " This film will destroy that film come August" is premature nonsense. Like what another poster wrote.. it's all speculation. But I am not gonna feel like I am " offending" others by showing my enthusiasm for TMNT when all over the forum people are making threads about it being moved and flopping bc it's a week after GOTG.

Yup. I've never read a GotG comic or even knew it existed until this movie and I'm interested based on the casting and the marketing so far. I love the tone of the trailers. Movies aren't cheap and if I'm going to spend money to see a movie in the theater I want it to be worth it regardless of my history with the subject. Right now GotG looks like the better investment entertainment-wise compared to TMNT.

agreed 100% and i know i made the thread about moving the movie based on GOTG but time has made me realize moving it is dumb unless like i said they hope to move it closer to a full worldwide release ( or move international release up which seems like the smarter option)

He just registered yesterday. What is absurd is that most of your post was you reprimanding the guy bc he.. didn't combine all of his posts from yesterday into one post?.. " 92 back to back posts " Hes only posted like 37 times Leooo. So please forgive him for not jumping into his time machine and combining all of his future thoughts with his current ones. Shame on him

Take a breath, buddy. I know we haven't been formally introduced, I'm the "nice one" around here, as far as all the condescending pricks go. I'm trying to help the dude out before the real jerkoffs start giving him a hard time, which they will.

In case you haven't noticed, everyone here gets exactly five minutes to make a first impression before they're branded for life. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger. The guy can take my advice or leave it, for all I care. I appreciate you trying to stick up for someone else, but I'm sure he can speak for himself just fine.

However, to be fair, I don't think those four movies got the most outstanding word of mouth.

thats all fine and well and i respect your opinion to say that, but saying TMNT will be best because its TMNT is not a solid argument
Agreed. If this movie is HORRIBLY bad, or even just bad, I don't want it to do well. Sadly, that'll probably mean we won't see a reboot anytime soon, but oh well.

And I agree with you. I want a great TMNT film. One with all the qualities you said. However, I'm not so sure this film will fail us in these areas (yet)(except maybe the BOOMS and explosions part). I haven't seen enough to make me totally be turned off yet. I've seen a lot of things that I feel like I'll like in this film. Does that mean this is a best take on the whole movie? Um ... no. However, I'm still hoping I enjoy it, and if I don't? Then I don't.

I WOULD be interested in seeing a movie that's made by FANS. Hardcore fans, who love the franchise and know what to do with it. A more down to earth and closer to previous things we've seen take on it.

Man of Steel actually got pretty good word of mouth. The problem is, every movie nowadays is entirely compartmentalized into either, "OMG you guyz it's soooo awesome!" or, "It sucks, it's the worst thing ever". So when someone asks you what you thought about a movie, and you say, like, "Well, it was pretty good, but there were a few things they could have done differently," all they hear is, "It sucks". People want everything broken into either Best or Worst Thing Ever, and if something is not labelled as being "perfect", they don't want to see it. 90% of the time, people who avoid a movie based on "It was okay, not terrific" kind of buzz end up enjoying it when they see it on DVD or wherever.

MoS got pretty good buzz, but a lot of people who were "iffy" about it avoided it because the praise wasn't as overwhelmingly positive as they were hoping. Happens all the time, unfortunately. I remember seeing "Hulk" on opening night in a packed house, though, and man, nobody there really knew how they felt about that one at all. A few people liked it, and a bunch were throwing their souvenir Hulk shirts at the screen in a rage. Most bipolar crowd reaction I've ever seen for a movie.

We're good. Believe me, when I'm actually giving someone sh*t, it's pretty easy to tell. Usually, it's when I start saying things like, "Your mom should have had your Dad push her down the stairs while you were in utero so the rest of us wouldn't have to suffer so much." I haven't had to go that dark on anyone in a good long while, though, so everything's mostly fine.
