Well, Viacom, you only have yourself to blame for choosing to put Platinum Dunes and their cronies in charge of it. Hurt yourself, and worse, hurt the Turtles.

It's unfortunate that for those who did their own jobs well - be it the Turtles' actors, stunt people, many who work behind the scenes - that's it for them. Sure, they'll move on to other things, but that's a shame. I'd sort of hoped the Turtles' actors would be them for a while.

I'm done with your weak stories/plot lines... but I wasn't done seeing where things go from here for this group of brothers.

As much as I love Nick and the usual teenagery TMNT, I kind of liked that this set feels like they're grown (despite what the dialogue may claim), it was sort of nice. Would have been fun, and somewhat unique, to watch them age a bit.

If only they'd been put in the hands of more competent writers and producers/directors (sans Green, he seems to have done pretty well) who weren't only out for one thing.

I wish the CGI character files would become free to the public and talented fans could produce their own little shorts however they want...

That will never happen but I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on those.

I doubt it. The Nick cartoon is Viacom's primary source of income with the TMNT brand.

The movies bombed, and as said, the profit they get from the IDW comic is likely minimal at best since they share the profits with IDW and probably don't even get all that much from it. I mean how much money do they really get from the license to IDW when each comic only sells around 16,000-18,000 a month on average? It seems more of a goodwill thing out of anything, like Nick is just doing it to keep older fans interested.

I doubt this will affect the IDW series, they are starting the TMNT Universe comic from August.

Here are Deadline's box office predictions for this weekend:

2). Central Intelligence (WB/NL/UNI), 3,508 theaters / $13M Fri. (includes $1.84M previews) / 3-day cume: $33.5M/Wk 1

3). Conjuring 2 (WB/NL), 3,356 theaters (+13) / $5.4M Fri. (-67%) / 3-day cume: $17.1M (-58%)/Total cume:$7.3M/Wk 2

4). Now You See Me 2 (LG), 3,232 theaters (0)/ $3M Fri. (-64%) / 3-day cume: $9.4M (-58%)/ Total cume:$41.1M/Wk 2

5). Warcraft (UNI/LEG), 3,406 theaters (+6) / $1.9M Fri. (-81%) / 3-day cume: $6.4M (-74%)/ Total cume:$37.6M/Wk 2

6). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (PAR), 3,086 theaters (-985)/ $1.49M Fri. (-63%) / 3-day cume: $5.5M (-62%)/Total Cume:$72.2M/Wk 3

7). X-Men: Apocalypse (FOX), 2,632 theaters (-953) / $1.38M Fri. (-50%) / 3-day cume: $5.2M (-47%) /Total cume: $146.1M/Wk 4
Dory is gonna destroy all competition, even more than earlier predictions, because of course she is. They have BayTurtles 2 barely above X-Men: Apocalypse for 6th place, with a 62% drop from last week, taking $5.5 million for the weekend.

Comparatively, the 2014 movie dropped only 41.4% in its third weekend and took in $16.73 million.

After 15 days of release, the box office for OotS is only $65 million behind the 2014 film. I'm sure they're happy with 51% of the previous box office despite the higher reported production budget.

Independence Day 2 is next week, I wonder if Finding Dory will affect it too.

I do think the movie schedule does suck this year, too many big movies are too close together. They should have spread them out more, not 1 big movie comes out then a week later another big movie and then a week later another big movie.

Nah, I heart me some of this Leo. Even after taking so long to warm up to these designs, at this point... I think I'm gonna miss him.

Only thing to really hope for I guess is what ever that Target exclusive bonus disc may hold. And even then it will probably mostly be everyone but them... >.>

Was just looking at some of those numbers. Not an easy time for so many. I thought Conjuring 2 was doing so good? What happened? Fell a little further than the Turtles did on their second Friday, I think? And Warcraft? Over 80% drop? OUCH. They really should have made that film much earlier at the height of the game.

TMNT really should have picked a really slow spot on the calendar without so much competition around it. Granted most of the competition is flopping, too.

yeah, Nickelodeon's doing the best. Or, rather, their toys are. But it's what is keeping the name in the public consciousness. And it keeps the attention of children, who tend to forget trends quickly. That keeps the soil fertile for a TMNT movie. Like I said, I won't be surprised either way, between sequel or reboot. I just think the franchise is too popular to shelve, altogether. If this movie doesn't get a sequel, I would expect a reboot sooner rather than later.

Yes, Nickelodeon just gives us a Turtles comic out of the goodness of their hearts...

It's literally IDW's best selling book, and has been in their top 3 since day one. Since they bought the intellectual property, all they have to do is collect the licensing check and pay a few people to approve scripts and art.

IDW is the only party actually rolling the dice, and in turn dealing with all production, advertising and shipping logistics.

A lot of jumping to conclusions going on. DVD sales might go through the roof, the timespan for money to be made still isn't nearly over yet.

DVD sales don't save movies anymore. Dredd had ridiculously good DVD sales and the sequel to Dredd is dead.

It's actually dropped below X-Men: Apocalypse now, though only by $10,000:

Quote:
6. X-Men: Apocalypse - $5,210,000 (-47.5%) 2,632 screens
7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows - $5,200,000 (-63.9%) 3,086 screens

I love you, Dory. You can forget all you want as long as you continue to pummel the PD abortion.

I had hoped that this movie might have longer legs, seeing as how the reaction has been better. Apparently, the universe is not so generous.

Everything is to blame on the 2014 movie.
