Speaking of college, the reaction at thte University of Maryland will be interesting. They play a bit of the TMNT theme during home games, and then everyone yells "turtle power!" And people think we won that basketball championship because we had good players? Plus "retro" still seems to be hot for certain things from the past. Like TMNT. People who haven't been paying close attention --and that's most people-- will see the movie as a "return". Whether that return is welcome will depend on whether they liked TMNT before... and even if not, it will be a novelty. I mean, TMNT is fun. There really aren't that many movies about giant turtles who can kick butt... at least not readily available at a theatre near you.

A street crew would be fun, but I have yet to see anything that would lead me to believe this movie will have anything more than the usual level of promo. That is, theatre posters, any press they can rope their actors into doing, and maybe some TV ads. *shrug*
It might be cool to have a t-shirt with something to the effect of "TMNT 2007" on it. (If you leave out words like "returning" it will never become outdated. For the chance that anyone will still want to wear it after they see what the movie.... But what people could do immediately is just make banners for their sites, put it in their sigs on non-TMNT boards, etc. Easy stuff. Like whoever put the movie poster on digg... the response there was lukewarm, but many more people know about the movie because of that. (And I'm still wondering who did this.) Hehe... oops... way off topic now. :p

Movies tickets are only expensive when you go to the late showings. Otherwise they are around 6 bucks.
Unless Ghost Rider has a lot of hype, the R-rating won't help it much when compared to a PG rating. More people can get in to see it. People wanting to see the movie also depends on how well the tralier is made. If it looks incredible, anyone that used to like TMNT will want to see it, but that doesn't mean they will. |

Comparatively though, Ghost Rider was a very different demographic to Spiderman, Hulk, and the TMNT. The Punisher seems to have done well enough to earn a sequel and Daredevil (say what you will) got Electra and renewed sequel talks. I think Ghost Rider will find it's audience, just as TMNT will. I dont think a CGI TMNT movie is going to draw as many casual action movie fans as GR will. As soon as you see something animated in CGI, you can pretty much rest assured it's aimed at the younger audience. I can't recall the last adult CGI animated film (I mean totally adult - Final Fantasy only half counts).

I don't think that people generally put TMNT in the "superhero" category. I think to most casual observers, the guys seem to be off in their own little cosmos where the Shredder lives, fighting their personal battle. That's just my gut opinion.

What I was trying to say is the TMNT have the nostalgia factor on their sides, which may give it a good advantage over Ghost Rider. Hopefully people who remember the old toon will go see it just for the nostalgia reasons. And when they do they'll be introduced to a side of the Turtles they've never seen. |

They really have to delay TMNT out of there. GR will eat it for breakfast. The number of people that I know who are waiting for GR is huge. Almost no TMNT lovers YET, and I insist on YET.
2 big blockbusters like that on the same opening weekend is devastating. One of them will drop. And I'm afraid that alot of people are gonna go see GR and then download TMNT. That will be bad. They really need to aim higher than kids in this. They say it will be pretty much as dark as the first movie ? Good, but they will need to go even higher. As we are now 16 years from TMNT the movie... Things have changed, I hope that they took that in consideration while doing it... |

Actually, I may have been mistaken. GR is actually coming out February 16. TMNT actually has a very good spot. Right after GR and a month before Spider-Man 3. In fact, by coming out March 30, it wont have to compete with Spider-Man 3, Hulk 2, Fantastic 4 2, Transformers, Shrek 3, Pirates of the Carribean 3, and the bound-to-be-huge Simpsons Movie. All of which would destroy them. |

Well, then, all we have to do now is pray for an on-time release.

Ghost Rider has less anticipation for it than Electra. It's unlikely it will draw much money from the TMNT movie.

The power of previews holds alot over anyones head. The Fansastic Four movie looks like crap to be but it made a good share of money in the office when it came out and held a weekend.
Ghost Rider may not have as big of a fan base as TMNT, and TMNT may be a kids movie. But more teenagers and adults will go see Ghost Rider instead which negates TMNT. Unless the preview for TMNT stomps Ghost Riders then I don't think TMNT had a fair chance. It's being made by a film studio with no rep that I know about and its a CG movie which most people my age and older think are lame. Plus I read that most idiot movie goers want the trailer for a movie to tell you as much about the film as it can before they go see it. That is so stupid, they bascially want to know exactly what happens in the film before they go, ending included in most cases. People now of days are such idiots it blows my mind. |

If indeed tmnt is coming out later than GR then that's it. We are saved ! if it has his own little weekend, tmnt will surely have a good week. Quote:

Even if TMNT and Ghost Rider were to come out at the same time, I dont really see Ghost Rider stomping on them at all. Ghost Rider is an "R" movie with not a whole lot of hype or a fanbase as big as the TMNT. I'm just really hoping the film will be at least as dark as the old film, if not darker. I think some of the older fans deserve something gritty to look at besides the comic after all these years of kiddie stuff. I have a feeling it wont be as dark or gritty as their promising

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think that just because the fans are older they will want something "gritty" out of this flick. I know that goes with the "please be like the comic!" mantra though.

I don't know anybody who knows what GR is. In fact, I don't even know what GR is. And, I don't care...I think GR would be a good match for TMNT, and TMNT would kill it for sure.
