The only comment that was made along these lines from any sort of in-the-know source was here.

This was right when FF got canceled, so it obviously didn't happen like this because 4Kids pitched the Superworld series instead.

Well, Superworld was a ****ing horrid idea.
Overload was bad, could have been decent, probably a stepdown from FF
I really wouldn't want the OT/Archie based thing unless it was a totally different cartoon, but since we already have OT and Archie, just plain continuing the 2k3 series (which has no real ending as of yet) seem like the best way

if they want a story line why don't they go with something that they have already established in the 2k3 continuity instead of pulling something out of their ass?

Why not have the turtles (if they absolutlely have to be stuck some where) get stranded in the battle nexus out skirts and have to go through diffent deminsions to find their way back to their deminsion and encounter some old characters and enemies and some new ones. They can be creative with it if they want.

The thing that's tough about this is that all 3 parties have different goals in mind. 4kids wants ratings....Playmates wants toy sales...while Mirage ultimately just wants something as close as possible to 2k3. I bet this is very frustrating for all parties involved.

As for the overload idea, I love most of the toddler turtles episodes of 2k3, but they're best left at one or two episodes per season.

Whatever they do, I hope they keep continuity.

See, you could easily continue the 2K3 series we know while successfully integrating elements from both the OT and Archie comics. It wouldn't have to be something completely on its own. If you read the comments on Murphy's blog, the person posting as slash has some really good ideas on how it could work while staying true to 2K3.

That's definantly our Slash, and yep those are good ideas. So I take back what I said before.

except that the general aim here seems that they get stranded some where out landish, or something outlandish from a diffrent area follows them.

Geez... I don't think the idea was as bad as everyone is making it sound. But, I agree that gimmicks are for episodes, not entire seasons (so, I edited the sentiment a little... sue me). Compared to 'Superworld' and 'Fast Forward', this latest concept sounds enjoyable. Of course, it's no longer an option, which is fine by me. I might not have found it horrendous, but it certainly wasn't even close to optimal.

As long as the show doesn't become a live-action mockery like 'The Next Mutation' or a "let's explore the powers of imagination" Turtle Babies show like was pitched before they decided on 'Fast Forward', then I'll be relieved. Since there isn't a lot of selection in new American action cartoons these days, they'd have to screw up big (like what I mentioned in the previous sentence) to lose my support.

From the latest explanation of 'Superworld', I see that we were given a very narrow generalization of it before. Was it actually even supposed to be a card-game, or was that just an outsider's understanding of it?

Then, they almost get off the island, but Mikey screws it all up.

As I said on Murphy's blog integrating the Archie comics into a show wouldn't be that hard. Slash has the right ideas. I'd LOVE to see Ninjara and the Mutanimals on screen.

If they're so keen on time travel well there's always the Future Turtles (not the FF ones but the Archie ones). Don's got his Time Slip Generator Stargate thingy. There's lots of possibilities with that.

Soon there will be a string of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food! Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.

I recomend a "Tales of the TMNT" series. You could tie up the 2k3 and even >> universes and do new interesting and fun ne shots. You revisit the SaiNW universe, maybe even do a "What if the 2k3 TMNT met the 90's TMNT?"

Somehow I feel we've had this discussion before... It was like, what if you had a TMNT series that was like an animated version of tales -- with different authors and animation studios for various episodes, similar to having the freelance writers/artists coming to work on Tales of the TMNT comic. It would be completely unorthodox, but then, to me anyways, it would seem more fitting to TMNT.

I know, not gonna happen unless we entertainment industry undergoes a violent revolution.

That'd be fine by me I even suggested the old toon tmnt meet new tmnt story which btw was a story mirage was going to do but never did.
Peter should go for that one since he created it.

Murphy's blog exploded with 48 comments to this story, I really do hope with everyone asking that he does in fact tell Peter Laird to look at the comments there.

When it gets right down to it, how many options does Peter have left now for TMNT on TV? If a return to 2k3 isn't going to happen without some gimmick involved, introducing some Archie characters would do the trick. I can totally understand why he doesn't want the show to become mutant of the week, but a handful of characters would be adequate.

Especially if they(the characters) are under his creative controll.
I think it's not even a matter of the gimic really when it comes down to it it's how these things are executed.

Overload sounds like some crazy fanfic....a lot like every episode of Fast Forward (which I rather liked for its quirkiness). I definitely wouldn't mind a mini OAV of it. *cough* ...but then, I have the toddler turtles figures standing right in front of me, ... They are adorable! XD

Superworld was a card battle based series?! WHY?! That's the most horrible thing I've every heard of! Chibi turtles doesn't even compare to the horror of Yu-gi-Turtles...imo The Fast Forward episode that was a Pokémon parody was painful enough.

What happened to what I heard about them branching off from the new movie and its visual style? That could possibly be refreshing.

Whatever they do, I hope they do keep true to explaining how they get home from the future. I'd also love see more about the Dark Turtles and how they end up. (I'm probably dreaming on this) I rather liked them.

As much as I adore the Toddler Turtles and the episodes/comics they are in...

A whole season of them is NOT a good idea.

A two-part episode like that is fine.

Some flashback episodes featuring them is great.

The Overload concept is a BAD idea.

Why oh why can't they continue like they did with the first 5 seasons, weaving in Mirage Comics and brand new elements so well? Adding in Archie elements would have worked fantastically too.

I dunno what is worse, if the card gimmick one or the Overload one.

If they make a two-part episode concluding the series after the Turtles return to regular time, I'll be content with that. Hey, I would have been satisfied with ending things at the end of the fifth season.

Overall, I am glad it was shot down.

And how hard could it be to adapt more Mirage and Tales Vol. 2 issues?
