I was pretty impressed by the clip we got, I really got sucked in and then I realized it ended....so quickly.
I didn't enjoy the theme song though.... didn't enjoy that much, but I loved the homage to Tmnt between the ending mimicking issue 1 and "Heroes in a half shell"

Just saw the Opening video and the Training clip. I think the Opening is good, if you consider the target audience... I really liked the lil sketchy pictures of the turtles (a lot like the animatic we originally saw a couple years ago). Did Anyone notice Splinter's eyes were glowing RED in the very beginning?
The training clip was fantastic. I don't personally care of some of the anime touches, BUT.... I do like the action movements in the training clip. No slapstick physical 'stooge-fu', you could say. Raphael's voice really fits him - he's not the forty-year-old chainsmoker we met in 2K3. And Splinter is one evil bugger... I can't wait to see what he puts the boys through. |

I like the music itself, and the chorus, but not the rapping. It's both too simple to have appeal, and subsequently too boring to be memorable.
The visuals though, fantastic. & the clip, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. It kicks ass. |

I listen to rap (older stuff though, nothing that comes on the radio nowdays) and I honestly don't care for the theme song. Really I never do care for hip hop cartoon theme songs anyway. But so oh well. Reading what some wrote down for the lyrics, I can see a resemblance to the OT lyrics.

It's definitely simplistic and uninteresting. I suspect it could have worked better backed by some heavy drums, though. Not necessarily a lot better, but enough to not fall completely flat. Minimal rap like that requires a really strong percussive crutch.

I can't wait for the show, already cleaning out the DVR so the only things I'll be watching is the Ricky Gervais show and the new Turtles series. They look pretty good and I like they're going for that Teen Titans look with the anime reactions. As for the theme catchy as hell nice mix of classic series, their own thing and paying tribute to TMNT #1's cover. Only nitpick I kinda miss the matching color wraps they had on their weapons from the 4Kids era. Splinter is tall but hey it's something different.
Other than that I really hope the show catches on and the Turtles can enjoy another long run on tv.. As a person who likes rap I've always said to each its own with that said, there are some forms of rock(cough current) is to music as Dan is to the Street Fighter universe. |

I've just finished watching it and digesting everything. I've come to the conclusion that everything about it is awesome. I even love the theme song.

Man, those clips were very enjoyable.
Usually the whole "anime-reaction" stuff turns me off (Like it did in Teen Titans and the similar stuff they're doing in Ultimate Spider-Man.) but it doesn't here. How odd. It might be the ultra-stylized, street graffiti-esque look of the show that makes it easier to swallow. It is weird to hear OT Raph's voice coming out of Donny's mouth. That'll take some time to get used to. As for the theme song: eh, not bad. The rap stuff is entirely disposable but the bookend lyrics sound great. The visuals are very nice looking, though! I'd rank it above the 2K3 stuff but below the original opening. It looks like this'll be a really fun show to watch. Here's hoping the rest of the show is as good as those clips are. |
