And there weren't any soldiers shooting at robots. The hell. What episode did you watch?
Oi... please reread my post. I was talking about episodes like Shredder Strikes Back, and a few other episodes like Secret Origin Part 3 where the soldiers were battling the robots. They reused the same footage twice except the second time they cut off before they were dragging the wounded soldier out. And actually I don't mean this episode was bad, I meant the stock footage was bad. while I don't mind them using it for some of the less important scenes, using it on the action packed battles is a total disgrace. I like this ep, just hated the stock footage. It's no different then watch Reflections all over again.

Okay, I get what you mean now, but I had the same reaction Splinter did upon first reading it...that was pretty confusing there, guy. And I didn't notice the reused footage, but I'll take your word for it -- admittedly I don't tend to pay much attention to the fights, because on the whole I find them pretty dull. (I had the same problem with the comics, flipping through pages of people hitting each other in panels. Yay.)

That SNK-esque move where Donny hit one Foot soldier with a rising bo uppercut and then came down on the one behind him with a staff smash was pretty cool, though.

LOL, that's a good one! Seriously though, I really like how this story is going. I never read the original comic book version of "City at War", but I got the gist of it from reading Dan Berger's review of the storyline and I really like where they're going with the cartoon version of it.

it was awesome the way the foot were gonna kill the mobsters in the bulding with the bomb. I noticed they reused a ton of fighting footage. In secrete origins they reused some. and in the return to new york. and in shredder strikes back they reused fighting footage. Great episode. Happy to see karai

I almost forgot to mention that. I thought it was cool how they reused footage from "The Shredder Strikes". You could even tell when they reused footage of Mikey from when his foot was bandaged up.

Stock

Yeah, the stock stuff could have been replaced with the 5 seconds worth of new animation that it covered. But I must agree also that if it doesn't really hurt the story, it's not a huge deal. But I would have been happier with new animation. I hope it isn't something we will continue to see. Nothing was worse than that episode of reflections a couple weeks back. The preview was more exciting than the episode. I mean, I coulda slept in and watched the DVDs for those episodes and have someone tell me they did it at the farm and the turtles eyeballs were showing. That was like the highlight of that ep.

Back to city at war, I"m excited about Karai. I never read the old comics so I'm excited to see what they'll do with her. I'm familiar with her character (Have TMNT Tournament Fighters for SNES) but I've never seen her really outside of video games. The design for her is 108% better.

Hm, that was one thing that struck me as lame, actually -- if the Foot soldiers were going to beat the guys up already, I don't see why they didn't just slit their throats (but the writers needed a way for Leonardo to come in and rescue them, of course). I mean it's not like they would've needed to make it look like an accident, especially in the middle of a turf war -- leaving their signature on the corpses would send a message to the Dragons for sure. And the police have nothin' on the Foot.

I think she looks good too, but I dunno...I'd love to see my mistress in pink again.

Aaaarrgggg!!! I set my VCR wrong and I missed the first 8 minutes!!!! Can someone recap? Karai appeared? AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGH!

From what I saw this episode was AMAZING! The mobsters had guns, the Foot Elite were badass as usual, and it appears Hun may be with the Dragons. Were the Purple Dragons shown in the first 8 minutes?

There was actually three Foot Elite in this episode, the Elite with the trident-like weapon appeared during the payment from the mobsters, the Elite with the double-sided sword appeared near the building that blew up and met up with the Elite with the spear arriving at their headquarters. The Elite with the Axe was the only one MIA.

I do not remeber watching any reused scenes until this ep. Leo holding off 6 Foot swords was the only time I actually stoped and took notice. I guess I really didn't mind them enough before to actually see they were doing that.

Back to this episodes thoughts:
I thought it was great! It seemd like the shortest episode so far.
The Foot Elite actually had lines in this ep. and they actually seemed human--or humanoid at least.
The Foot Soldiers did not seem to be mearly tools like they used to. Seems training has been doing them good.
I loved Don's(being my favorite turtle) comedy bit. Hanging with Mikey seems to have some effect on his sence of humor-same with Mikey taking effort to find out what exactly is going on in the city. Leo and Raph also seem to be taking some of their personality traits from each other from all the time they spend together.

Glad to see most of you liking this episode. Since I know that city at War is going to be the most epic trilogy of season 2, just like return to NY was the most epic trilogy of season 1.

I love the Music in the beginning "Running Free"(I think that's what it would be called). I hope that song will be release on a TMNT Soundtrack with other themes.

Leo practicing his Bull's Eye strike and following the foot was like in "Shredder Strikes Back"

Are you all happy that the Gangsters are using Guns for once? I hated when allot of you people were complaining about those guys not having guns when "Lone Raph and Cub" was aired. I just hated when people argue about the most stupidiest complaints EVER.

It was quite surprising to see that the Eliete Foot guards can speak. And to think they tooken a vow of sillence in the other episodes. nice to see the most deadly Assasins of the Shredder to take over of the Foot.

I thought it was good to see Raph being the reasonable turtle for once. Nothin bad about the turtles taken turns in personal allities.

I know Stockman has several different forms now. But evil scientists always come back for more. Atleast there's another villian to love and hate besides the Shredder.

Karai pretty good for a "ex-henchman" of the Shredder. We'll see her in action in the next 2 parts.

I give this episode 5 out of 5 stars for great combacks of the Eliete Foot and Mobsters. "Running Free" was the thing that made this episode great.

Now to see Hun and the Return of the Purple Dragons in part 2!

I noticed the re-used animation during the fight scenes, but it didn't bother me that much. It saves the animators time, it saves money, and it's not that big a deal since it was a very little percentage of the fighting. Most cartoons do it.

Wow. I loved that song at the beginning of the episode, definitely sound track material. Karai is way cool, and I also learned how to correctly pronounce her name, so that's a plus.

There were just so many great parts of this episode. I, too, wanted to knock some sense into Leo, like Raph. Even if their actions led to the start of this war, jumping into it the way Leo did was just stupid. But I couldn't believe when he walked out on Splinter.

But it had some fun moments, like Mikey's little table top RP set up. The bobble head ninja was great. I also liked Don's Matrix-esque moves. Too bad it didn't work, but it was hilarious.

But Leo was just being Leo, trying to do what he thought was the "right thing". But I agree with Raph, was it worth it?

Bah, but I got a slap to the face that my wits are slowly leaving me. When the mobsters first mentioned that they had help from someone who had given them high-tech weaponry, it took me until the next scene to realize they meant Baxter, even though I'd read as the spoilers which told me this. *shakes her head* I'll be lucky if I'm coherent enough to record next week's ep properly.

I was half-awake when I watched the episode. Had a bad night and didn't sleep too good. I did catch it all and taped it no trouble. Personally, I thought it was a wonderful and very true to TMNT episode. For those who haven't read the original CAW, I suggest you do so now. It is an awesome, powerful series, probably the best from the Mirage universe.

Back to the cartoon, I do remember bits and pieces that I liked: the midnight run scene in the beginning, Leo repeatedly missing the target, his argument with Splinter, Mike's RP table set (with me being an RP fan, that thing looked like fun), Don spinning on his bo like a pole dancer (I wish it worked out for him...poor guy!), Leo with the bomb, the introduction to Karai...hey, I think I'm naming almost every scene! Guess that means I really liked it. This is a good set-up to the other parts and I can't wait for next week to see part 2.

Hell Yes City At War Finally!

Wow today's episode was great like I knew it'd be I'm so freakin hyped about this city at war story line I can't even believe it's happening I'm sure peter Laird can't either it's like a dream come true.
Is it me or did the foot elite talk to the foot soldiers? I don't think we have ever seen them speak before?
Saw Officers Eastman and Laird great stuff hehe I knew we'd see them even if briefly.
Is it me or does the Mafia boss sound allot like Silver Back from the next mutation?
I really love this all it was great seeing Kari even though she wasn't like she was in the books or the video game I happen to prefer how she looks there but who knows she might end up being in that outfit anyway that might be here Fightin' gear.
oooo and my favorite part that I knew was coming has to go to Baxter Stockman! I love how he looks with his head on top of the Utrom Body I like the look allot perhaps that's the figure we will be getting the tummy was closed I wonder if it's all a trick and shredder is inside there heh that'd be so funny. But yes Baxter looked so awesome as a cyborg and omg the robot is exactly like it was in the comic book that had to be my fave part of the episode when Leo hit it dead center in the eye....All I gotta say is we better freakin get a toy of that robot!
this episode was amazing and I am so damn excited for next week!
