What makes people think the Japanese aspects of the franchise were removed from the PD TMNT movies because of China? PD wanting to make the Foot a military organization led by a white Shredder had nothing to do with China.

China hates Japan with fiery passion. You can't market stuff with heavy Japanese influence to them. Bay knew from Transformers how important an audience they were, & that's why we got a white-washed version.

I never said they were. But Hollywood is pandering to China to chase the $$. Not for artistic reason.

Marvel can 'do no wrong'. Their brand is almost untouchable at this point, even when they have the odd misstep. They're an anomaly though.

I wonder why they still hate Japan now. I mean China imports stuff from Japan like anime and videogames now, it seems to be just a bunch of old fogey's in government who are living in the past.

Some people just need to let their racial prejudice from their grandparents die down. It makes no sense for countries to hate each other in the modern year of 2016.

They've really only bungled Barton and Romanoff, maybe Thor. (If we're talking villains, the list is longer... starting with Ultron himself).

And even then, character designs were on point. No Platinum Dunes monstrosities for Marvel.

Marvel's Kool Aid tastes a lot, lot, lot better than Platinum Dunes' TMNT Ass Juice.

Well, one thing that certainly doesn't help this or any other movie is $ 12.00 for a ticket.......
Why sit in a stuffy theater for 2 hours - and pay $ 12.00 for the privilege - when I can just wait a few months, buy the DVD for $ 15.00 and watch it whenever and as often as I want ?

Which reminds me I was wondering the other day what were the chances they could decide to go ahead and round it off with a 3rd movie, but put it out direct-to-video. How much would that spare the budget if they skipped theaters?

Say most decided to just wait for this sequel on tv/video, see it then, decide it really is better than the first (in certain right ways, not necessarily all ways), it ends up with decent DVD/Blu-ray sales, making a next film direct-to-video a viable option... get new writers (plus remove Bay or keep him out of the way) and make a really good 3rd that people are asking why it wasn't in theaters and sales of that and interest encourages a really good 4th back in theaters, making TMNT the ultimate underdog Comeback Kids. *sigh* Yeah, I know. But one can dream.

Granted, I get that we all need to respect others' personal tastes, and everything is subjective.

But comparing films like Iron Man, Captain America: Winter Solder, and The Avengers flicks to be on the same level as movies with Super CHUDs, Megan Fox, boner/dick jokes, fart jokes aka Mikey farting on his brothers' faces, and barely any fisticuffs in films with Ninja in the title?

I don't get it. I Never Will. To Each Their Own.

It says a lot when one is to say 'I'm a Captain America fan' or 'I'm an Iron Man fan' in today's age? People would go 'that's cool' or 'that's awesome' or 'I am too'.

But if one says 'I'm a Ninja Turtles fan'? There's just looks of 'man, I'm embarrassed for you' or 'that kids thing? Haven't you grown up yet?' or 'those ugly things? Really?' or 'oh...that dick and joke thing? I pity you, loser.'

These films make it embarrassing to admit to being a TMNT fan.

Yep, pretty much, "Oh, you are? I am so, so sorry..."

It does. People either hit me up asking what I think about the new film (either knowing what I'll say and hoping to get a reaction or not knowing but having some vague recollection that I like some form of TMNT and genuinely thinking I'm excited about it), or will say so much crap about TMNT based on it (or the last one) that I feel compelled to point out that these... things... out there bear very little/no resemblance to the source material.

Platinum Dunes, it seems, would like you and the rest of the board to drink a different kind of juice.

that's how it's always been man.

EVERYONE disses tmnt as if it's so absurd an idea. meanwhile, you've got a guy flying around in tights from another planet shooting lasers out of his eyes and everyone accepts it instantly.

TMNT fans hardly EVER get any respect, and now thanks to Michael Bay Stinking up the place, it's even harder to get them to take it seriously.

And it's not because of the fred wolf elements. Batman: Brave and the Bold showed ANYTHING Goofy could be done not only well, but AMAZINGLY well if you respect it enough.

Look at IDW and what they've done with characters like slash.

But, sadly, the GOOD things done with TMNT... IDW, 4Kids, are either too fringe, or quickly forgotten about when the newer, shinier thing comes along.

I kind of feel the same way about the new 2K12 series as I do the Michael Bay movies. Ciro and company care only about mirage turtles, and anything else is secondary or an after thought. they don't have a clear vision on what they want this property to be, and neither does michael bay. even the new series isn't above using fart jokes.

maybe that's why i've virtually stopped caring about the property. since the buy out, no one takes it seriously.

and why should they? they no longer have to cater to the super fan who kept it alive. now they have - the casual audience - fans who will like anything so long as a tmnt logo is on it - fans who feel loyal to the brand and will give anything a chance at least once (hence, it makes money and more is made)..

eventually, the only way they'll stop bastardizing things is when people stop rewarding them for doing so. i'm at the point, where if that means the death of the property, so be it. I'll take that over Bay Turtles and meghan fox april any day.

but, I still think there's a ray of hope left for turtles once bay and ciro leave. Ghostbusters may not be so lucky once feig is done mucking it up with his agenda.

Ciro hasn't based Nick TMNT on the Mirage Turtles at all. Its a mix of new stuff like with original cartoon/Mirage and some of 4kids.
