There are plenty of good stories from the comics the current show could use, its not like they have nothing else to go on.
Can you seriously not sit through a few episodes of rehash? For that matter, a straight-up Mirage adaptation would play out differently enough from the 2003 cartoon on its own.

And I don't know about you, but I'd love for the show to attract new viewers. To not redo certain events would be to alienate those viewers. You may have seen the Turtles' origins five times, but the public has not.

If I want a straight adaptation, I'll read the comics.

I don't know anyone who's satisfied by something being direct. They must be THE most boring fans on the planet.

I wanna see that Ultimate TMNT given a shot. I mean, it would have been perfect for a reboot. Chances are that there isn't a chance in hell it would happen, but at LEAST we'd have a slightly different origin, and not have to sit through "collecting turtles in a coffee can" 8 more times.

I honestly hate when things are direct adaptations of something.

Back when George Romero was tapped to direct the first Resident Evil movie, it was going to be a direct adaptation of the game. I was at the mall, chillin, eating me some Chic-Fil-A, when I thought to myself, "why would I want to watch something I went through myself?" Why watch a movie when I beat the game, and know everything that happens?

Same goes with the new Jerry Bruckheimer produced Prince of Persia movie... IT'S CALLED THE SANDS OF TIME! I already beat the Sand of Time trilogy like, 4 years ago, why in the heck would I want to watch a movie based on something I have already played and know what will happen?

If TMNT 2K3 episodes were adaptations of the mirage comics or whatnot, I never have to read the comics now. Even if some things were changed in the process, I now know a lot about certain issues for it not to be significant enough for me to read now, cause I saw that particular comic in some form.

I hate when things are directly adapted, because it's like you are going around in circles, seeing the same old thing, in a different form.

Well guys, I don't think anyone was suggesting a panel to panel remake. Maybe he was just implying he'd like to see a origin in the mirage tone. One thats pretty similar perhaps. I know I would. I don't think it makes me boring, I just would love that to set the new tone for the show, and it would leave them with a lot of potential if it were in that style. Also, it can be a real joy seeing something you love brought to life in a different form.

I actually wouldn't mind an almost panel-for-panel remake. Japan does it all the time. There's something about seeing the stories you love in an entirely new medium, with an soundtrack and motion and color, that makes a new experience. It's like looking at a beuatiful painting of a statue. They're both the same thing, but the different medium makes it interesting.

The other aspect is that a larger adult audience still hasn't been exposed to the true TMNT. The comics are becomig difficult to obtain. I'd love to see those stories placed before the public once again in whatever form.

For the public, "true" TMNT is always going to be the series that came first, and why this message board is called what it is called.

If Laird werent stubborn, Ultimate TMNT would have seen what everyone considers "true" TMNT sort of restored completly.

Ultimate TMNT would have been a good idea if it maintained continuity with the 2k3 series. The only thing I didn't like about it was Splinter's origin being the human Hamato Yoshi instead of his pet rat, that is pointless and there's no reason to do that again.

It would have been nice to see some of those old mutants appear redesigned to fit the 2k3 universe. If it was a continuation of Seasons 1-7 it would have been a great idea and would have likely increased toy sales.

You didn't understnad what I was saying at all.

While I love Archie and the old cartoon, I love the Mirage comics slightly more. I want people to be exposed to those stories and to see the Turtles in that light, and that won't happen until a faithful adaptation is shoved in their faces. You can tell people to just go read the comics, but that's not an easy task.

Quoted for truth.

This was one the first page, and I just had to bring it back for everyones viewing just to see how accurate and valid the above statement is.

I just can't see how anyone can enjoy the crappy spin-offs beyond the 2k3 series. Some people are just so damn loyal to TMNT to the point of overlooking obvious crap and deluding themselves into thinking it's good.

And so, for the delusional, I give you your crap.

I agree here completely. I hate all the comic adapt episodes, except a few. I've seen the story a million times, I read them in the comic, I saw them in the old toon, it doesn't need to be told again and not to it's full potential.

Personally I think one of the best adaptations is "I'Monster" they changed Rat King enough to make him fit into the story of this turtles incarnation as well as adding enough change to the story to keep it interesting.

All the episodes I enjoy the most, except "I'Monster", weren't adapted from comics. A lot of the episodes I dislike or find myself bored watching are. It's a sad truth, they could probably do a panel for panel adaptation and I don't know if it would do anything for me. It would have to have the style of the comics as well to be engaging but even then.

Anyone ever seen The Maxx cartoon? That's a panel for panel adaption literally the panels are just animated. It looses something, so something can be said about something being too true to the source material.

And as for FF I've said it before and I'll say it again, I enjoyed it. It's not a masterpiece but it grew on me.

Well, maybe we're not all full of crap?

I've enjoyed most of the individual BTTS eps, even if the arc is dragging. As for FF, there were some thing that bothered me but there were other parts I enjoyed.

It has nothing to do with loyalty, so drop the BS, I hated the Next Mutation for example. There were also some comics that I thought were terrible, so it has nothing to do with that.

Loyalist opinion is becoming predominant in a lot of mediums, people overreacting to valid criticism is well-known to be present not just here, but elsewhere. Since writers and/or artists tend to post in major fan communities more frequently, very obvious boot-lickers rise up to "fight for the cause", to the extent it becomes so obvious it overshadows anyone who might have a legit reason to enjoy the episode, but respect those who don't think they watch anything that resembles TMNT.

If Britney Speres albums selling now tell us one thing, it's that it's easier to reward stupidity than do anything about it.

And so, for the delusional, I give you your crap.

As Hellacious as Next Mutation was, it was interesting in its concept, just not its execution.

If you want pure, unadulterated TMNT $#!+, look no further than this:

I liked the "Pizza Power" song.... does that count?

(Now I find a damn clip of TMNT Christmas. I was gonna do something mildly amusing with it, now it's too late)

I have to admit, I've enjoyed FF and BTTS... I didn't think they really held up to the rest of the series, like everyone else. I think I would rather them have finished FF than BTTS, and just gave them a similar ending. Seems like the concepts they were working on there are much better than the concepts they have now. I like the idea of Cyber Shredder... but I really think they should have done it another way....

Instead of Viral's form getting over taken by Shredder's data, she should have just absorbed them, and posed as Shredder only to get revenge on the turtles by opening up old wounds.

Some of the songs are catchy in Coming Out of Our Shells, but the presentation of the stage show is ludicrously retarded. Shredder's armour makes me want to cry, as does the fact that he actually sings a song called "I Hate Music". WtF?

Agreed on all points. "I hate me some music so much I'm gonna make me some... music" was a halfway entertaining notion, but it was too stupid and broadway like for me to approve.

Is it wrong for me to like that?

I mean like most I grew up with the original turtle fad so the turtles being extra silly is on character and entertaining in a way.
