Dave Green in talks to direct TMNT 2

After foolishly getting my hopes up at some points during the pre-release for the first one, all I can say is that Green has a job of work ahead of him trying to impress me for this one.

Agreed. I think the last film would have been ok had they not hit the panic button and did re-shoots which caused a lot of unneeded confusion in the story.

I think Bay was more involved in the last film than we were told and that might be why things went a bit off the tracks do to conflicting ideas. Bay and PD wants a puppet to control and if it fails then they have a fall guy in Green.

If it does well than Bay will step into the lime light as the hero who saved the film by hiring Green.

Experience does not equal quality, and the reverse is true as well. Paramount hired him because they liked something about him. There are dozens of other, higher-profile "yes men" they could have hired.

He was hired due to his experience with family friendly films. Earth to Echo had an ET/Goonies vibe.

But I really hope it doesnt turn out something like Secret of the Ooze, While I enjoyed that film, It was toned down.

I hope they up the ante in the fight scenes and all the action scenes from the first.

The Snow Chase was a huge selling point of the first one, With Bebop and Rocksteady and Krang supposedly in the next one, I would like to see action scenes taking place on the streets of NYC, Rocksteady picking up a Car and throwing it at the Turtles and they dodge it, Bebop putting out some weapon and starts firing, If Krang Shows up, He'll be in a robot body that will grow like 20 or 50 feet tall, and maybe show the Technodrome.

Um, given that he's done like ONE movie, he wasn't hired for his "experience" doing ANYTHING, just to be clear.

He was hired, rather, because that INexperience makes him cheap.

Keep in mind, I don't care about the guy either way. He's like the least important piece of the movie's puzzle. But saying he was hired for ANY reason other than cost-effectiveness is entirely wrong.

Ugh Secret of the Ooze, all talk and no action, so boring. It is second last in the movies series for me (last one being 2k7).

Let's hope the new one keep, or even better, ante up the action and just go crazy. The snow chase scene was awesome, we should have something more like that.

Higher profiles mean bigger paychecks. Even Brett Ratner and McG got bank in their heyday.

This guy has one average(according to critics across the board) kids movie to his name.

They didn't hire him for his unique vision. They hired him to sit in the chair and tell the cameras where to shoot.

Now, just for clarification, I don't know this guy. He hasn't said anything about this yet. Got nothing against him. But he's completely inexperienced and Paramount's track record so far is in the garbage, as far as I personally am concerned.

So there's no "whew least it's not Liebesman" mentality for me. It's "they went from a guy who makes bad movies to a guy who's made one low budget kids movie".

And again, that's just me.

Eh I'unno. I kind of think who directs it isn't very important. I just think it's silly that anyone would think this guy got hired for any reason other than the fact that he'd probably do it for free if they asked him to.

I'm not sure if I disliked the directing of the new movie...
But I know my biggest problem was with the writing (and the overall redesigns of everyone). If we can get a different writer(s), then that would be AMAZING. Unfortunately, damage has already been done to the new origin story. Maybe TMNT 2 will actually star the Turtles and 'lil miss star power Megan O'Neil can take a backseat

As long as there is less Megan Fox than turtles on the screen, I think I can like this movie better than the first.
If B&R are included, I'm hoping they're just as tanky as they are in the IDW comic. That seems like it would fit riiiight into Bay-verse.

Regardless, I don't have any kind of aspirations for this movie. I'm content with what I enjoy in the fandom and this movie doesn't effect that at all.

Agreed. As I stated before... considering the movie was called "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", they were hardly featured and the whole film was a vehicle for Megan Fox.

I saw the Bebop and Rocksteady designs... as long as they are real, I thought they looked awesome.

Whatever the movie becomes, I'm not sweating. IDW and Nick have their **** together so I'm content with these iterations. If we get a good movie some day that would be a treat.

Passive aggressive is a bad look for you champ.

I'm actually pretty optimistic. Earth to Echo was, a kids film, and not great, because it was a kids film.

If they plan to make this even more kid friendly, so be it. It can be a kids film, but still be good.

I watched that fridge film, and it's actually kind of fun. He has a vimeo channel with other shorts, they're actually well done also. Lots of rapid fire dialogue, proper edits, overall it feels professional.

I can see what they see in him. He actually has talent, unlike his predecessor.

Let's see what happens. Bottom line is, things are looking up...for now.

Also, Liebesman isn't returning because he is likely to do TF5.

I'd rather they stick with Liebsman and change the producer. I don't have much confidence in changing directors for sequels as they end up being crap like X-Men 3 for example. But I'll keep an open mind and give Green a chance and maybe watch Earth 2 Echo at some point.

Well, in that example, the prior 2 x-men films were pretty good, and Ratner was a pinch hitter, who sucked.

This might be the reverse. Liebesman hasn't made a single good film.

There's nowhere to go, but up.

On the one hand I'm interested to see where he goes with this. After the last film failed critically and in the eyes of the majority of the fanbase a fresh director could be a change for the better.

On the other hand the last film's biggest problem was the writers not the director and they're coming back so my expectations are still well below rock bottom (to paraphrase Chandler there's rock bottom, then 50 feet of crap, then my expectations for the TMNT 2 script).

As cool as my inner kid thinks it would be to see Bebop and Rocksteady on the big screen common sense tells me it will be a disaster without a bigger budget (something I doubt this film will have, I agree with Leo, this is probably the main reason they're hiring a relatively inexperienced director - he costs less). In an interview Liebesman basically admitted that the reason we got the April O'Neil movie with action scenes featuring the TMNT is because the motion capture made the dialogue scenes just as expensive as the action scenes so they cut out pretty much anything that wasn't needed to further the "plot" along (you know, the unimportant stuff like character development and depth). If they want to add Bebop & Rocksteady to the mix as well then we better pray they have their costs under better control or a bigger budget or we'll be getting April O'Neil 2 with the guys just doing action scenes again.

But with TF4, I lost all interest. Liebesman is just the final nail in the coffin.
The good news is, no one is ****ing with He-Man...
