welp I just paid $29 bucks to get Bebop and Rocksteady from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Either I am crazy or I really want them.

This is slowly becoming less a figure thread and more of a anti Playmates thread.

Playsets

I will say that I wish we were getting new playsets other than two new turtle lairs. by now I'm sure collectors and kids alike who were going to buy the first turtle lair have already done so, and won't buy another one just because it has a different color scheme and sfx added.

I would much rather have playsets based on different sets from the show. Everyone would welcome a technodrome with open arms. But if that hasn't been in the show recently enough, how about a spaceship or dimension x playset from this new dimension x line? or shredders lair? personally I would like Baxter's lab. That set would lend itself really well, with the multiple cages, cool sci fi tech, and mutation machine.

I liked the cool cardboard dimension x portal they added to the turtle lair, but since i don't plan on re-purchasing the lair, I think they should make a series of mini playsets with that "portal" attached. each set could be a different dimension or part of the city they can "teleport" to. Kind of like the zipline sets or anchovy alley in size and price point.

I bought two of them, so eight more to go for me. Haha!
I fixed my spare April and popped her back at the controls of the blimp. I still plan to get another one and pop the head off .. without snapping the neck this time.
Painted black with silver highlights, it should work with the human head.

In mean time, I'm debating buying the T Machines. Mind you, I haven't actually seen any yet!

Was there ever a reason given for why the shredder lair pop up playset was canned? That sounded really cool. If i had to guess I would say Anchovy Alley tanked and they figured no one wants those types of playsets but I thought it was a great idea.

I mentioned before if they made a technodrome with working pink circular lights all around it would be awesome. If they were already making it electronic they could put in a button that has randon krang sayings as well as stuff like blaster sound effects. Scale it up big, charge $100 bucks if they need to, and make a great comercial to air during the show and it pretty much sells itself.

I wish Playmates would share the license with NECA that way NECA could make the Adult collector friendly stuff and Playmates could make the kiddy stuff.

The first wave of 2 packs sold so fast at Toys R Us. I kinda wanted it, better than paying $5-$6 for just one blindbag.

I don't think they did give a reason the shredders lair was canned but I was really looking forward to that too. I'm sure it was because anchovy alley didn't sell well. If I remember correctly they went on sale before they disappeared.

But I think that assuming they didn't sell well because of the style/pricepoint was backwards thinking on playmates part. It was a good concept and a fun toy. I would think it's failure was more logically due to the fact that it was essentially another sewer lair, released alongside (or right before, I don't remember) a much more impressive version of the same set (albeit one at a higher price point.)

I think a set based on a different location in the show would have done well.

And now I think they're going to have a similar issue as before with two new sewer lair playsets on the market at the same time.

Also, love the idea for a technodrome with light and sfx. Technodrome is a must. Kids love having bad guy playsets, it would make sense if the turtles are going to be spending a lot of time in dimension x, and collectors/ fred wolf fans would love the nod to the classic toy.

I would like it if we got Shredder's Lair as a big playset. The Technodrome would be a good call back for tmnt collectors, but I don't believe that the new one from Season 1 lends itself really well for a playset. It only did well for the Kraang on the show and that was it.
