I know how you feel outside of my older brother I have no other friends that are into tmnt. My wife hates that I love it so much. She is hot so that makes up for it

These look pretty awesome. Nothing compared to that ridiculous costume. Im no longer concerned they'll be too human looking. Hope better quality pics pop up soon.

Edit: Wow just saw the leaked pic of Leo a couple pages back. I had skipped over. Im so happy with the new look. Its like OT turned realistic.

Edit 2: Shredder is awesome too! Lol got so excited I posted too soon.

I agree, zooming in on his eyes, they barely look human!

After 30 years maybe they thought of mixing things up a wee bit and keeping it fresh? I wonder how many people would be moaning about it being played safe and more of the same if it was just what you had said? My only gripe with the new costumes is that there seems to be a covering of the crotch going on. It's like the turtles all got shy!

In what way are the foot masks racist? I saw a bit of a nod to samurai masks coupled with a similar design to the immortals from 300... But nothing racist.

As for me, I dig these designs, they are a shell of a lot better than what I was expecting! Looking forward to this film, reckon when I go see it I'm going to have a fun couple of hours in the cinema.

First let me say I am shocked this thread is not deleted and these pics are not removed. This forum is well known to be in kahoots with the studio and acts on their behalf. Dont be shell shocked if this thread is removed.

Per a studio message from earlier:

Quote:
"The Movie is set to hit theaters later this year. We want to save the excitement, so please keep any movie information – images, descriptions, etc. under wraps for the time being. Should you receive any images, please delete them. They have not been approved to be published. We really appreciate your support in this matter. "
So lets see how the drome plays its cards...

As for my personal opinions from a life long TMNT fan:

This whole concept is foreign to me and what my heart tells me is the TMNT at the movies... but I really have to learn to let that go. Coming back to the big screen will introduce a whole new generation of people to the turtles and keep them in popular culture for decades to come. We will always have the original movies and cartoons to watch... this new movie could be awesome.

The was the characters speak... act... behave... that is more crucial to me as a fan than the looks. I am somewhat certain that the turtles we have seen are in a "battle mode" and will not appear this way every frame of the film.

As for me, I will be #1 in line for the #1 public showing in North Texas. I would not miss a TMNT release for any reason. Long live the turtles.

I love the designs.
They are are a lot like the Jim Lee Turtles looking at their size.

From the other thread:

Ehh. Too busy. All of it's too busy and cluttered. I hate Leo's outfit a ton. Less is more.

The faces and bodies don't bother me much. The faces themselves look pretty good, actually. It all looks better than I expected, but I really didn't know what to expect. But the outfits thing is still just a solution that was looking for a problem. They could have saved a fortune on production if they kept the faces and bodies the same as they are, and just used the classic look. Animating those ugly, cluttered outfits in mo-cap had to have cost a fortune. And even if one would say their outfits are fine, were they necessary? Was anyone begging for it? I'd argue no. But as a traditionalist I'm used to being in the minority on this stuff.

Between all the outfit clutter and and Donnie's million computer monitors, so much of the visual style of the movie screams "Excess", and I'm a "Less-Is-More" kind of guy. I also think it's odd that the two concurrent versions of TMNT are going to be so contradictory; in the Nick show, they're younger, smaller, simpler, and in the movie they're apparently older, jacked-up to all hell, and wearing all kinds of crap. It's just odd to me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I just now noticed Shredder's cape thing is itself apparently made of blades. WOW, overkill. He looks better than I thought, but still... all this is just soooo much from the "Image Comics 1993" school of how to visually design characters. "Find a spot on someone's body that isn't covered, and stick some weapons and armor on there. F*ck it, it's Extreme!"

Could be worse, could be better. I just think they seriously over-designed all of them for the sake of being "new and hip". Few, if any, would have complained had we gotten something simpler.

You're totally right about the "straight out of '90s Image" vibe, and while normally I'd loathe that, I'm actually liking the way it plays with the Fred-Wolf-inspired elements in the rest of the film.

Again, it wouldn't be my first choice, but the movie being what it is, it looks like it's at least going to be totally madcap and, in the history of the franchise, something rather fresh and unique. And that at least has me more excited for it than I was before.

I think you make more money when you play it safe and keep it simple. But as others have said, it could have been worse, and also as others have said, the movie won't live or die on visuals alone, anyway.

No offense, but it seems to me that you have forgotten that the Nick show exists. is currently running, is the face of what the current generation is familiar with, and it's clearly way different that the concept presented for this movie.

At least the heads are not as dreadful as we saw with the abhor-some Halloween mask, especially their cranium diameter looks more appropriate for a Turtle rather than having a bizarre alien/humanoid form. As for the faces... I need to see a closer picture of it to see the details but they're... meh, okay. At least it wasn't that atrocious phlegm color.

As for the costumes with both the Turtles and Shredder... way overkill (as Leo656 mentioned before) to visually display their personalities (I mean Donatello wearing a vacuum cleaner of sorts....huh? ) especially with Shredder. I mean its gonna be difficult doing complex somersaults and flips wearing all that heavy metal, or with so much distracting hanging, loose clothes with the Turtles.

As for the issue with Raphael not being able to "move" because of his big muscles... well there are some bodybuilders who can develop their flexibility and are not as "restrictive" as some might think. (There are plenty of YouTube videos of male bodybuilders doing splits, etc.)

I kind of expected these Turtles to be excessively beefed up knowing the staff behind it since everything has to be visually "loud" to get the audience's short-attention span, but the costumes are just... whaaa...? Plus, looking at that Donatello model... ugh, they had to make him look anemic and scrawny, just look at how thin his arms are. I understand how personalities can sometimes be shown in one's appearance (Raph's tendency to fight more will be shown in having a bigger physique), but seeing that Donatello model... bleh... talk about visual stereotyping to the extreme.

I can honestly see Donatello discarding his bo staff for a wrist-mounted laser cannon. Seriously.

And I think that would fit in perfectly with what kind of movie it will be in general. Take that however you wish.

well he has actually done that in a couple of comics, so it would be fine.

I'm sure that's every Donatello fan's most cherished memory of him and the one they most wanted to see re-enacted on the big screen...

I've always envisioned Donnie lamenting the fact he got the least-interesting weapon of the four.

More effective than Raphael and his salad forks, maybe, but altogether, a stick is a stick.
