It's pretty obvious now that Kirby genetically engineered her. So, while I'll bet shr's still human, she's probably just not the traditional sense. In other words, "test tube baby"...

I'm not saying I want this to be true, but I'm pretty suspicious. I've never heard Ciro say anything about being a fan of the Volume 4 books, but that doesn't mean he's not familiar with that "April is a drawing" storyline.

This logic is actually very very strong in my opinion, Craig. To me, any hardcore fan of the Mirage series (which Ciro clearly is) would have at least read the other volumes. And regardless of whether or not you are a fan of the concept, the issue that explains from April's point of view how she came into existence is some of Peter Laird's best writing; it is almost like an illustrated novel and makes attempts to be literary with its reference to Franz Kafka.

It would in some ways justify the Donatello/April romance I suppose, but I highly doubt that they are going to have Casey show up and yet not have him be April's love interest. Not only that, but I have a strong feeling Irma Langenstein will show up at some point and will be interested in Donatello, the way she was in the old cartoon.

I dunno. There have been a lot of comparisons to Sari Sumdac from Transformers Animated, and she didn't know she was a (kind of) robot.

So they should strictly "play it safe" limiting themselves to only using things and characters and origins from older incarnations that are widely known to the public for their new incarnation? What a horrible, horrible creatively bankrupt and nonsensical precedent to set.

It wasn't a well received decision though, even among most Mirage fans. That and Rat King's Mirage origin were the two most hated elements of the 2000 era Mirage comics.

I am a big fan of April's origin as explained in Volume 4. I'm not a fan of there having been no real follow through or long-term plan with it, though...

If you think about it April's always been sort of the "5th turtle"

Unless you're being literal...which kind of takes away the fun symbolism of the whole thing.
