So far as that break down goes, I don't think I'll mind the "Teen Titans" use of picture-in-picture frames and sound effect gags and stuff like that. Just as long as they avoid the whole "characters turn into giant headed midgets running around screaming every five seconds" stuff. That was the only part of Teen Titans I honestly, truly reviled (same reason why I can't watch Full Metal Alchemist and most other anime).

Beyond that, I think the sound effect thing could look neat.

But yeah, I'm worried about Mikey being irritating. In regards to the Bruce Lee noises, he actually did that shtick in the Japanese 2k3 dub and I HATED it, so I'm not much looking forward to seeing the gag carried over. (you ask how 2k3 Mikey can be done worse, well, the Japanese found a way)

Exactly, why cant all the Turtles have their time to be comedic. Making Mikey the only joker, makes him all the more ridiculous.

But then I think back to something, Andrea Romano is directing these actors. I'm sure she'll try to make sure that their performances are more 3 dimensional. But then again you can only elevate what's on the page so much.

The concept of a "comic relief character" is a dated mistake that is long past due to be phased out. It unfairly pigeon-holes a character into a single role and puts the burden of levity squarely on their shoulders, making them unlikeable and impossible to work.

Mikey can be the "party dude", sure, but he can't be the only one who cracks jokes and goofs off to the point of irritating the audience. I kinda like how Avatar did their "comedy relief" in that ALL the characters were funny. Sokka was the sarcastic guy, but the burden of levity wasn't placed squarely on his shoulders and he was thusly permitted to contribute signifigantly to the group dynamic.
