I missed out on the Free Comic Book Day issue. Was there anything new or important in it that wont be in these normal issues? I assumed it was just an early copy of #1 (or part of #1). If it was an all new issue, I may have to try and hunt one down.

It's an all-new story.

I think you can still download it on Comixology? Might want to give that a check.

Here's my review of TMNT New Animated Adventures #4 at TMNT Entity.

Burnham comes back for his first issue since the FCBD story and he's very consistent with Byerly; if I hadn't read the credits I'd have been none the wiser. Another solid done-in-one, as is this book's way.

A quick question: Does Shredder address Dogpound as "Dogpound" in the actual TV show? I always thought he called him by his real name (Bradford) and it was just the TMNT who use the name Dogpound. But I've only watched through the season once (working on my second trip), so I'm not sure. The reason I ask is because Shredder calls him Dogpound in this story and that seemed kinda weird.

Anyway, more good stuff. Really liked all the hallucinations.

yeah Shredder never called him that in the actual show, nor do they reffer to themselves that way either.

Why don't people make a new topic for every issue? It feels like you guys don't consider each issue to be worthy of its own thread like the IDW comics are.

As I'm reading these reviews....I'm feeling bad for Mikey

everyone seems to have something special but him.

(I thought Mikey was the creative one....)

5 issues so far (Free Comic Book Day special, #1-4).

It's an ongoing series, so it'll just keep going until IDW decides to cancel it.

Yep. Thus far everything in New Animated Adventures has been a one shot.

I actually started reading the comic before I was familiar with the cartoon and had no trouble following along, so they're pretty easy to jump into.

The sales of the Nick comic are only around 9,000 a month, they're IDW's lowest selling TMNT title currently.

Hopefully it picks up or we'll be looking at it ending before issue 20. (if we even get that far)

I hope it at least features some season 2 elements, like Casey and Slash before its run ends. If it's going to thrive, it needs some kind of side-plot or something. Some kind of 3-part story or something that will draw people in to see what happens next, but won't interfere with the tv series, but is still set within the tv series universe.

It's kinda difficult considering they don't want to tamper with the show. Maybe a new side-villain that can be taken care of in 3 or so issues? But then it will be weird not seeing this villain at all on the actual show.

Hm, I guess people don't count weird tentacle monsters as new villains.

What? How is that being rude when that's how people view those things?

Its the same way people view things like those plant/tentacle monsters in the OT Season 2 or in the 4kids, "The Darkness Within" episodes.

Cover looks good!

Cullen Bunn, he's a break from Byerly and Burnham. I've read some of his Venom stuff and he's got a good sense of humor, so he ought to be a good fit for the Nick TMNT.
